Yet another HiveFest 10 post

Conference venue 1 stage. Left to right: @sagarkothari88 and @roelandp.
It is the time of the year again. This is my second time seeing all of you in-person at HiveFest. The biggest difference between this HiveFest and the previous and all future ones is that there is no long travel time and no accommodation booking.
Day 0
Met up with @vaultec and @milo-hpr at the KL Journal Hotel first thing in the morning to catch up on VSC, along with a few others who also arrived early.

I then met up with @sagarkothari88 at his hotel to discuss presentation matters. Concluded the pre-event day at Pavillion with @louis88, @demotruk and @rivalzzz while they were shopping there.

Way more items (and non-presonalized ads) this time. The bag(s) feel more durable than last years.
Day 2

First day of the actual conference held in REXKL, specifically in the REXPERIENCE hall. I presented some of the latest updates on @aioha on stage.
Some thoughts
While the presentations were great, the venue itself is below expectations due to inadequate ventilation in the main hall and all 3 toilets in the building look poorly maintained. Not recommended for full-day events.
Dinner at Da Bao
No food photos because I will not repost them.

| KDX Exchange | @bitrocker2020 |
Same event, different name.
The ChainCulture day at Glasshouse in contrast, is a much better venue. The moment you enter the place, you will see all the quotes in every corner, in no particular order:
- Humans were the first smart contracts.
- Somewhere, a wallet is still waiting for purpose.
- Decentralize your ego before your wallet.
- To coordinate is human. To vibe is divine.
- Be your own oracle. But listen twice.
- Your attention is liquidity.
- If culture forks faster than code, which one runs the world?
- You're not early. You're exactly on block time.
- Touch grass. Then tokenize it.
- The network remembers what the mind forgets.
- Proof of Work? Try Proof of Kindness.
- If you found this sign, you're already inside the protocol.
- Your vibe just got verified.
- Decentralization is just another word for together.
- This message is stored on-chain. Somewhere.
There might be more that I did not notice. I also dropped by at the workshop by thebeedevs, more on that in my next post.
What I learnt
I spoke to the KDX team at their booth regarding a potential listing of HIVE/HBD on their exchange (or any other MYR exchange). Some requirements are:
- Rubber stamp of approval from SC (SEC equivalent) to list the coin/token
- Multi-year established history (we have this)
- Multi-billion $ marketcap
- Syariah compliant (grey area here)
That leaves volume and liquidity requirements at the discretion of the exchange.
They failed to provide an answer on the application process, whether I need to consult SC separately first before working with the exchange, or something else. There are also no stablecoins approved for trading at any MYR exchange, the stated reason was they want everything quoted in MYR and not another fiat currency. Not even an MYR stablecoin. The real reason to me is to protect the banks so they can still get away with overcharging customers to move money. Therefore HBD listing is a no go.
Also note that social media licensing requirements do not apply until we have >8 million users in the country.
Day 4

Depression sets in on this day as we are heading towards the end of the event 😢

Closing dinner at Bijan restaurant. Was happy to be seated next to @crimsonclad and @milo-hpr.
Final thoughts
There is not much to say here. I completed what I wanted to do at this HiveFest successfully. Being a top 30 witness helped a lot to get more attendees to have conversations with me.

So lovely to celebrate all your amazing progress, @techcoderx!! 🥳I enjoyed our time together in Split and again in Kuala Lampur.
Thank you so very much for the mention and including a photo of @bitterirony & me in your beautiful post.
It’s a nobody’s fault, the tendency, but you delicately addressed an easy problem to solve—that if an attendee is new to HiveFest &/or hasn’t yet had their breakout on Hive, it can be unexpectedly difficult to get invited into conversations.
You are kind to mention it so gently. I wonder what we can do to close the gap and make all feel seen and heard.
Good luck in this next year of your Hive Career.
Much love!! 🥰
It highly depends on their personality. Some like me are not very comfortable with unfamiliar people. Most people attending conferences often have a mission in mind and that's something to look into.
In KL, I read this book on the side to help with a social anxiety that I experience sometimes—especially at events predominantly attended by men.
It's very refreshing to hear a balanced take (as opposed to overly-ecstatic "it was amazing" posts). It can be brilliant, but also not so much depending on personality type, demeanor, and just plain luck sometimes. I certainly remember feeling quite awkward and out of place at the first one, and a little in the beginning of the one last year. Then again, I think this raises a problem we deal with on Hive more broadly (and perhaps don't address very well) - bridging the connection gap for people who are more quiet, shy, or perhaps just less pushy.
I'm glad you had your moment there though and from the pictures, it seems you had a nice time :) I'm honestly glad.
Totally relatable. I think we are doing a better job than many other major crypto events. Crim and I had a conversation about those that she showed up to, the entire show was tradfi oriented or everyone selling their stuff.
You are also a very good photographer! It was nice to meet you even though it was at the last part of the closing drink 😆
Thanks :) Phone kinda struggles with low light. 3 of them are post-processed to remove excessive noise, can you spot them? 😄
Wah, you have photos with everyone... It's nice to have chit chat with you, may be later will have long chat.
Roughly half of them isn't exactly everyone 😄
An incredible experience for everyone in the Hive community. I hope to attend someday. Thanks for sharing.
Your presentation was awesome (great slides) & I learned so much from the way you present it. It was also nice to have a small chit-chat with you during the opening drinks. Once again, nice to meet you!
Congratulations @techcoderx! You have completed the following achievement on the Hive blockchain And have been rewarded with New badge(s)
