A proposal should be a stranger thing, asking someone who's a stranger to marry you, not someone you're committed to for years in a relationship
Oh, that's an interesting point of view. I think I have it so normalized that you should always propose, like a way of saying "We are not longer just boyfriends, we are now planning our wedding"
