Well friends, I tell you that I wanted this time or this year to participate once again in the contest "Sewing your Barbie" 5th edition and this time I said that I would not overlook it because this is one of the projects that I like the most, making outfits for Barbies since I can remember, I have always loved making dresses for Barbies, even since I was very young that passion has awakened in me, from there I was a little inspired and over the years I learned sewing, so let's say that this process of learning to make dresses for my Barbies helped me a lot in what has to do with learning to sew as an adult, I have been very fascinated by dresses and suits inspired by the decades before, so when I saw that the contest had this theme God! It's my chance to make a really pretty outfit for my Barbie and put all my effort and enthusiasm into it. In this process, I can tell you that I remembered my participation in last year's contest and I couldn't help but feel a little nostalgic, but I learned a lot; it was a nice experience that I wanted to relive this year 🥰.

My favorite decades are the 50's & 60's! :✨❤️🎥

One of my favorite decades is that because polka dot dresses with red, white, and black backgrounds were widely worn, as well as fitted skirts. Women wore stiletto heels and suits with short jackets and oversized buttons. Simple and geometric dresses were also fashionable, known as shifts, without a doubt the fashion for that time gave a lot to talk about apart from the fact that I like it because the ladies made themselves look very presentable and elegant, one of the models that I wanted to be inspired by for my Barbie they wanted them to be in striking colors like red and that had a bit of a European atmosphere or style with plaid coat jackets in tones that make the red stand out a lot like black and white was the perfect combination for my Barbie to dress in European fashion but of course she was missing something, the black beret to highlight the look of detail more I wanted to put on some black booties that I painted myself with nail polish for better durability .... For step one I will be cutting a circle 15 cm long in circumference to make the skirt of my dress in this case a disco skirt, as I don't have patterns on hand I will be placing a rectangular piece on top of the doll to cut the front waist piece which is the blouse I cut leaving 1 cm which is for our seam and then I will simply stretch it to sew the darts on the front part.

The next thing we will do is sew the top part by placing some pins and sew along the edge. I do this by hand because this way I take care not to ruin the dress and it is easier to sew the details. Then once I sewed it I folded the top part and folded again to sew the skirt to the blouse, then I turn it over and simply sew a small gather on the bust area and I will be placing leather fabric on the edge of the bust as a detail so that the dress stands out more.

Then, with tulle fabric 1 cm shorter than the dress, I will gather it at the top like a pleat and then place it as the lining of the dress. This is to give volume to the skirt; we sew it underneath the dress.

It's time to make our black and white checked jacket for this I took the fabric and cut the pieces with the doll on top I placed the fabric I was marking with a pencil and cutting I took two front pieces a complete back and the two three quarter sleeves, I began to seal the shoulders by hand then sew the hems of the edges so that the fabric does not fray we sew well and then I sewed the sleeves to the jacket hanger then I seal it and sew along the sides last I sewed the hem, to complete my Barbie's outfit I decided to make her a nice black beret for this I cut two circles the part of the visor and simply sewed with a gather the circle and placed the visor on the front aai our outfit is ready and complete.
