Architectural Photography - Votivkirche & Rathaus, Vienna

It has been a minute since I participated in a photo contest, so I felt like it gotta change, especially since I have quite a few pictures to share from the time me and my husband @matt-a took a trip to Europe.

These photos were taken in Vienna, Austria in 2013. The image above is Vienna City Hall or Rathaus in German. It was constructed in 1883 in Neo-Gothic style and designed by Friedrich von Schmidt (thanks, Wikipedia).
Getting around in Vienna was fun because nobody seemed to speak English, but we managed to have a conversation with an older lady who explained things to us in German which we of course didn't understand, but she showed us directions and that helped a lot!

The next photo is of Votivkirche which translates to Votive Church from German. Another piece of Neo-Gothic style. It was built after a failed attempt to assassinate Emperor Franz Joseph in 1853 to thank god for saving his life.

Unfortunately we didn't get to go inside either of these buildings. It was a very cold day to spend outside and we mainly tried to sit around in cafes or check out some stores, we managed to do some walking/sightseeing regardless the weather, luckily :).

Here is a photo that doesn't have to do anything with architecture, but it is a good example of how to stay warm in Vienna in fall. It is an alpine herb soft drink, I liked it a lot and some herb spirits, delicious combo!
