Phone Photography Contest - #68 | Lines in the sky

Between heaven, earth, and man, signs and figures have always been woven together. It is not only the clouds that can take different shapes before our eyes, the jet planes that leave their long and ephemeral trails, the reflections that can illuminate the sky with lights, and much more.

I have a permanent habit, throughout the day and wherever I am, of looking at the sky and establishing that relationship with the human and the earthly. Just as in astronomy we speak of “celestial mechanics” (also the title of a Venezuelan book of poems and a film), perhaps we could speak of “celestial geometry.” Not because the lines are exactly in the sky, but because we can extrapolate them to that infinite space that limits our gaze and imagination.

The photos were taken with my Tecno Spark Go2022 phone in an open space on the outskirts of my city (Cumaná, Venezuela) in the late afternoon.
