Ya casi se nos termina el mes de Julio y no podía dejar pasar la oportunidad de participar una vez más en el concurso: “Native Goods | Natural Materials”, la naturaleza es tan bondadosa que con ella podemos hacer infinidades de manualidades, proyectos que pueden servirnos para nuestro día a día y también para hacer lindas decoraciones, entre ellas conseguí un material bastante útil y hoy quiero compartir con ustedes la idea para hacer una linda decoración con hojas de maíz, ven y te comparto el paso a paso:

July is almost over, and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to participate once again in the "Native Goods | Natural Materials" contest. Nature is so kind that we can use it to make countless crafts and projects that can be useful in our daily lives, as well as for making beautiful decorations. Among them, I found a very useful material, and today I want to share with you the idea for making a beautiful decoration with corn husks. Come and I'll share the step-by-step instructions:

Con muchas ideas en mente pero quizás con falta de tiempo y de estos recursos naturales, tuve la suerte de conseguir entre ellos uno el cual es bastante útil, el maíz 🌽 , siendo un fruto de muchas utilidades, la más importante en mi país es la fabricación de harina de maíz para hacer nuestras deliciosas arepas, con esta misma masa y la cubrimos con las mismas hojas del maíz podemos hacer unos ricos bollos, pero hoy quise darles una utilidad diferente a estas hojas, haré linda decoración de flores incluyendo su cesta con el mismo material, aquí les dejo la lista de materiales a utilizar:

• hojas de maíz 🌽
• palitos
• silicone
• tijeras
• hilo de coser o ligas de cabello transparente
• piedras pequeñas
• un pequeño trozo de anime

With many ideas in mind but perhaps lacking time and these natural resources, I was lucky enough to find one among them that is quite useful, corn 🌽 , being a fruit with many uses, the most important in my country is the production of corn flour to make our delicious arepas. With this same dough and covering it with the same corn husks, we can make some delicious buns. But today I wanted to give these husks a different use. I will make beautiful flower decorations, including their basket, with the same material. Here is the list of materials to use:

• corn husks 🌽
• sticks
• silicone
• scissors
• sewing thread or transparent hair ties
• small stones
• a small piece of anime

Para nuestro primer paso vamos a hacer el procedimiento para hacer unas lindas flores, para esto vamos a utilizar las mismas técnicas que utilizamos para el foami o cintas , las hojas de maíz son un material bastante resistente y moldeable, lo primero que haremos será cortar un rectángulo en forma horizontal en la hoja de aproximadamente 6 cm de ancho, las figuras de líneas que traen estas hojas lo debemos dejar en forma vertical, doblamos a la mitad y le vamos a hacer pequeños cortes continuos en el sentido de las ranuras, luego enrollamos en un palito pegando con silicone, tuve dudas de que pudiese pegar ya que las hojas aún están verdes, entonces decidí asegurar con una liga de cabello transparente.

For our first step we are going to do the procedure to make some pretty flowers, for this we are going to use the same techniques that we used for the foami or ribbons, the corn leaves are a fairly resistant and moldable material, the first thing we will do is cut a rectangle horizontally in the leaf of approximately 6 cm wide, the figures of lines that these leaves bring we must leave it vertically, fold it in half and we are going to make small continuous cuts in the direction of the slots, then roll it on a stick gluing with silicone, I had doubts that I could glue since the leaves are still green, so I decided to secure it with a transparent hair tie.

Para nuestro segundo paso vamos a cortar formas de pétalos de varios tamaños, puedes cortarlos delgados y colocarle varios alrededor o puedes cortar entre cuatro a cinco pétalos por cada vuelta un poco más anchos, vamos a ir pegando los pétalos alrededor de nuestra flor comenzando desde los más pequeños hasta los más grandes, a los pétalos se les pueden dar diferentes formas, puedes hacerlos puntiagudos o redondeada igual quedará hermosa 😊

Para asegurarme de qué los pétalos quedaron bien pegados fui colocándoles Silicone en la base de cada pétalo y luego les enrollé un poco de hilo de coser para así fijarlos bien.

For our second step we are going to cut petal shapes of various sizes, you can cut them thin and place several around or you can cut between four to five petals for each turn a little wider, we are going to glue the petals around our flower starting from the smallest to the largest, the petals can be given different shapes, you can make them pointed or rounded, it will still look beautiful 😊

To make sure the petals were well glued, I placed silicone on the base of each petal and then wrapped a bit of sewing thread around them to secure them well.

Para finalizar con nuestra flor vamos a cortar la parte de abajo de la hoja esta parte es bastante gruesa le vamos a dar forma redondeada en la orilla y vamos a pegar en el fondo de nuestra flor y así ya están listas nuestras flores de hojas de maíz 🌽

To finish with our flower we are going to cut the bottom part of the leaf, this part is quite thick, we are going to give it a rounded shape on the edge and we are going to glue it to the bottom of our flower and thus our corn leaf flowers are ready 🌽

En este paso vamos a hacer la pequeña sexta para colocar nuestras flores, vamos a cortar tiras de estas hojas de aproximadamente 2 cm de ancha, unimos dos para que sea un poco más larga, comencé el tejido colocando sólo dos tiras en forma de cruz, luego intenté hacerle el tejido y vi que le faltaban tiras, así que la voy a hacer con 4 tiras largas, estas las colocamos como si fuese un*, podemos asegurar con un poco de hilo para evitar que vayan a moverse.

Cortamos muchas tiras de hojas de maíz de 1 cm de ancha aproximadamente estas las vamos a utilizar para hacer el tejido, comenzamos con dos tiras la sostenemos en algunas de las tiras de la primera figura que hicimos y vamos a ir trenzando de manera que doblemos y pasemos uno por encima uno por debajo, doblamos entre ellas y volvemos a hacer el trenado espero que en mis imágenes puedan apreciar como debe quedar

In this step, we're going to make the small sixth to place our flowers. We're going to cut strips of these leaves approximately 2 cm wide. We'll join two together to make it a little longer. I started the weaving by placing only two strips in the shape of a cross. Then, I tried to weave it and saw that it was missing strips. So, I'm going to make it with 4 long strips. We'll place these as if it were a *. We can secure them with a bit of thread to prevent them from moving.

We cut many strips of corn husks approximately 1 cm wide. We'll use these to make the weave. We start with two strips, hold them in some of the strips from the first shape we made, and we're going to braid them so that we fold them and pass one over and one under. We fold them between them and do the braiding again. I hope you can see how it should look in my images.

Con 4 tiras para los alrededores es suficiente para hacer una cesta pequeña, estas haran 8 tiras para trenzar, a medida que trenzamos definimos el tamaño de la base de la cesta, para subir el tejido vamos a ir prensando y así le vamos dando forma, con respecto a las tiras que estamos utilizando para el trenzado las vamos a ir uniendo entre ellas a medida que se nos vayan acabando, colocamos una sobre la otra por la parte interna de la cesta y las doblamos girándolas bien y luego seguimos nuestro trenzado.

Cuándo terminemos el tejido todas las tiras sobrantes las vamos a ir enrollando por todo el alrededor de la cesta y con esto vamos cubriendo todas las puntas que nos vayan quedando, si gustas puedes ponerle un poco de Silicon para fijar bien, yo le puse sólo un poco al final y así ya está lista esta linda pequeña cesta de hojas de maíz

Four strips for the surroundings are enough to make a small basket. These will make eight strips for braiding. As we braid, we define the size of the base of the basket. To raise the weave, we'll press and shape it. Regarding the strips we're using for braiding, we'll join them together as we run out. We place one on top of the other on the inside of the basket and fold them, twisting them tightly. Then we continue braiding.

When we finish weaving, we'll wrap all the remaining strips around the basket and with this, we'll cover all the remaining ends. If you like, you can put a little silicone on it to hold it in place. I only put a little at the end, and that's it. This cute little corn husk basket is ready.

Al tener lista nuestra pequeña cesta le vamos a colocar piedras en el fondo para que le haga peso al momento de colocarla, luego le colocamos un pequeño trozo de anime cubierto con hojas de maíz, luego perforamos pequeños orificios para colocar nuestras flores, para esto también hice dos pequeñas Espigas con la primera técnica de las flores, y así ya están listas estas flores y cesta decorativa hechas con hojas de maíz, espero les guste 😊

Once we have our little basket ready, we are going to place stones at the bottom to give it weight when we place it, then we place a small piece of anime covered with corn leaves, then we drill small holes to place our flowers, for this I also made two small spikes with the first flower technique, and so these flowers and decorative basket made with corn leaves are ready, I hope you like it 😊
