Peace, a reason to create Eng/Spa

Hello friends of the community, I am especially happy to share this post with you, as I am joining the contest for “Peace Month.”

I believe that, beyond the contest itself, it is about being part of such a commendable, meaningful, valuable, and humane initiative as the call for peace, which is so necessary and urgent, raising our voices through creation, through what we do, and through our creativity.

I took the opportunity to make a bow for Amanda, since she is wearing a white shirt with her name on it for the start of school, and I wanted to make her this hair accessory to match her uniform.

Here, I'll show you how I did it.

Materials:

White fabric.
Blue and green beads.
Blue embroidery thread.
Blue and white thread.
Needle.
Scissors.
Measuring tape or ruler.
Elastic.
Graphite pencil.

Procedure.

Step 1.
Cut out 3 pieces of fabric.
One square measuring 22 cm by 22 cm, one large rectangle measuring 27 cm by 15 cm, and one small rectangle measuring 6 cm by 8 cm.

Step 2.
I folded the square piece into a triangle and drew a dove on the bottom corners with a graphite pencil and the circular peace symbol on the other corner.

Step 3.
I embroidered the dove with blue thread, relating the color of the sky and that feeling of tranquility, depth, and infinity that we feel when we look at a clear sky.

Step 4.
I designed the circular peace symbol with blue and green beads, with the intention of reflecting the globe and that urgent need to call for peace in every corner of the world.

Step 5.
I hand-sewed the edges of this triangle, leaving a small space to turn the piece inside out.

Step 6.
I did the same as in step 5 with both rectangular pieces and ironed the three pieces.

Step 7.
I sealed the spaces I left unsewn.

Step 8.
I located the center of the triangle-shaped piece and, using thread and a needle, proceeded to gather it, making sure it was snug. Then I did the same with the large rectangular piece and attached it to the previous one.

Step 9.
I placed the smallest piece in the center and attached it to the back of the bow.

Step 10.
Using thread and a needle, I attached a static piece to the back, and that was it.

To be honest, this is the first time I've made this type of fabric bow, and I found it quite simple.

The embroidery reminded me fondly of my friend Maritza Villalobos, from whom I learned some stitches. Although she is sadly no longer with us, making some figures, however small, is a tribute to her dedication, generosity, and love for her gifts.

Without a doubt, peace begins within us. If we are at peace with ourselves, we will convey that to others and, above all, we will raise respectful, empathetic, and sensitive children. If we educate with love, there will be no room for hatred or resentment.

Hola amigos de la comunidad, en esta oportunidad me hace especialmente feliz poder compartir con ustedes esta publicación, ya que me sumo al concurso alusivo al 'Mes de la Paz'.

Considero, que más allá del concurso, es el hacerme parte de una iniciativa tan loable, significativa, valiosa y tan humana como es el llamado a la paz tan necesaria y urgente, alzar nuestra voz a través de la creación, de lo que hacemos y de nuestra creatividad.

Aproveché la oportunidad para hacer un lazo para Amanda, ya que, por el inicio de clase, está usando una franela blanca con su nombre y quise hacerle este accesorio para el cabello que combinara con su uniforme.

Acá, les muestro cómo lo hice.

Materiales:

Tela blanca.
Mostacilla azul y verde.
Sedalina para bordar azul.
Hilo azul y blanco.
Aguja.
Tijeras.
Cinta métrica o regla.
Elástico.
Lápiz de grafito.

Procedimiento.

Paso 1.
Recorte 3 piezas de tela.
Una cuadrada de 22 cm por 22 cm, una rectangular grande de 27 cm por 15 cm y una pequeña de 6 cm por 8 cm.

Paso 2.
Doblé la pieza cuadrada formando un triángulo y los extremos inferiores dibujé, con lápiz de grafito, una paloma y en el otro extremo el símbolo circular de la paz.

Paso 3.
Bordé la paloma con sedalina azul, relacionando el color del cielo y esa sensación de tranquilidad, profundidad e infinito que sentimos al mirar un cielo despejado.

Paso 4.
El símbolo circular de la paz, lo diseñé con mostacilla azul y verde, con la intensión de reflejar el globo terráqueo y esa necesidad urgente de hacer un llamado a la paz en cada rincón del mundo.

Paso 5.
Cosí a mano los bordes de este triángulo, dejando un pequeño espacio para voltear la pieza.

Paso 6.
Con ambas piezas rectangulares realicé lo mismo que el paso 5 y planché las tres piezas.

Paso 7.
Sellé los espacios que dejé sin coser.

Paso 8.
Ubiqué el centro de la pieza en forma de triángulo y usando hilo y aguja procedí a fruncir, asegurándome que quedara bien ajustada. Luego hice lo mismo con la pieza rectangular grande y la fije a la anterior.

Paso 9.
La pieza más pequeña la coloqué en el centro y la fijé en la parte posterior del lazo.

Paso 10.
Usando hilo y aguja, fijé un estático en la parte posterior y listo.

La verdad, es la primera vez que elaboro este tipo de lazo en tela, me pareció bastante sencillo.

El bordado, me hizo recordar con mucho cariño a mi amiga Maritza Villalobos, de quien aprendí algunas puntadas, que aunque lamentablemente ya no está entre nosotros, hacer algunas figuras por pequeñas que sean, son un homenaje a su dedicación, desprendimiento y amor por sus dones.

Gracias por incentivar la creación con tan hermoso motivo.

Sin duda, la Paz inicia en nuestro interior, si estamos en paz con nosotros mismos, eso transmitiremos a los demás y sobre todo, formaremos niños respetuosos, empáticos y sensibles. Si educamos con Amor, no habrá espacio para el odio ni el rencor.
