Reflection Hunters Contest 221 - Flores de Mayo Festival

Hello everyone. Let's welcome Round 221 of the Reflection Hunters Contest hosted by @olgavita. Check out the contest post in the link provided at the end of this post. Do read up on this and join in the fun.

Every year during the month of May, our country's Catholics celebrate the Flores de Mayo Festival. This Festival is in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary and means Flowers of May in English. Here's a short explanation of this Festival.

Flores de Mayo, meaning "Flowers of May" in Spanish, is a month-long Catholic festival held in the Philippines in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It involves daily prayers, floral offerings, and processions, culminating in the Santacruzan, a reenactment of Queen Helena's search for the True Cross. The festival is a blend of religious devotion, cultural tradition, and community engagement. Google Search

The observance of this festival is usually done within the districts of each parish churches through the Basic Christian Communities. These communities are composed of groups of Catholic families and individuals in residential areas and subdivisions, and usually have their own chapels where they hold masses, festivals and fiestas.

Our subdivision is a Basic Christian Community. We have our own chapel named after our patron saint, St. Mary Gotetti. This is where we celebrate the Flores de Mayo Festival. In the next series of photos, I will show photos of the different parts of the festival as celebrated in our chapel. And to my pleasant surprise, some reflections to boot with the photos.

If you are interested to know more about the Flores de Mayo Festival just click on the link here. This is one of the most celebrated Festivals of the Catholic Church and aimed primarily for the youth of the Community which explains why most of the people in the photos are young people.

For the Reflection Contest, the contest post can be found here. My entry is the last photo.

All for now. May you all have a blessed rest of the week ahead.
