If you have visited my blog before, you know how much I like the design of this character—perhaps the most kawaii in the entire Splinterlands universe, but no less powerful for that. If you’re ready, I’ll start by showing you the final result, the process, we’ll talk a little about the lore of the card in the Splinterlands universe, and share a bit together. Here we go!

Y es que si han estado por mi blog anteriormente saben cuánto me gusta el diseño de este personaje, quizás el más kawaii de todo el universo de Splinterlands, pero no por eso menos poderoso. Si están listos, comienzo mostrándoles el resultado final, el proceso, hablamos un poco del lore de la carta en el universo de Splinterlands y compartimos un poco. ¡Allá vamos!

As I mentioned earlier, Kiara is the daughter of summoners and the youngest of the two daughters of Lightbringer and Natura. We all know the work and strength of summoners of different types in the Splinterlands universe, renowned for their abilities. She is also the youngest summoner in history, a title that makes her underestimated by many, but although some push her aside, she has proven her power. She is characterized by her pastel pink colors and the rainbows that adorn her weapons. She is closely connected to light, but also to nature in its purest manifestation. Her design conveys a restless and friendly character, almost childlike, but at the same time the incorporation of her weapons makes her look strong and capable of facing any creature.

Kiara, como adelantaba, es hija de invocadores y es la menor de las dos hijas de Lightbringer y Natura. Todos conocemos la labor y la fortaleza de los invocadores de distintos tipos en el universo de Splinterlands, conocidos por sus habilidades. Es también la invocadora más joven de la historia, título que la hace subestimada por muchos, por lo que aunque algunos la hacen a un lado, ha demostrado su poder. I’ll be using an image from the Splinterlands wiki as reference, featuring the official card art. For my work, I’ll be using Ibis Paint as my main tool. Little by little, I’ll sketch a portrait and add details. Something very important is that I don’t want it to look anything like the card—I only want her face, but incorporating the elements that characterize her, especially rainbows and pastel colors. I want a beautiful, idealized version with a touch of mid-2000s scene style.

Utilizaré de referencia una imagen de la wiki de Splinterlands con el arte oficial de la carta y, para mi trabajo, estaré usando Ibis Paint como herramienta principal. Poco a poco crearé un boceto de un retrato y agregaré detalles. Algo muy importante es que no quiero hacerla en nada parecida a la carta: quiero solamente su rostro pero incorporándole elementos que la caracterizan, sobre todo arcoíris y colores pasteles. Quiero una bella versión idealizada con un toque al scene de mediados de los 2000.

This is how my first sketch turned out—I was quite happy with the result. Also, I’ve been drawing on my way back from work, which despite the discomfort allows me to embrace simpler and more immediate styles. Now it’s time to get to work and start cleaning up this sketch.

I added new elements to the drawing, like accessories and that happy little cloud on her head—as a reference to how the rainbow appears after the rain. I really enjoy adding this kind of detail to my drawings; I think it gives them a very personal touch.

Le agregué nuevos elementos al dibujo, como accesorios y esa nubecita feliz en la cabeza, como una referencia a la forma en que surge el arcoíris después de la lluvia. Me gusta mucho agregar este tipo de elementos a mis dibujos; creo que les da un toque muy personal.

Now I’ve cleaned up the sketch lines, leaving only the final linework. I don’t want black lines for this drawing—I want them to be a very dark pink so they blend better with the final composition. With the lines ready, it’s time to start coloring and adding details, which will be the biggest part of the process since I want a very saturated drawing full of sparkles and highlights.

Ahora sí limpié las líneas del boceto, quedándome solamente con las líneas finales. No quiero líneas negras para este dibujo; las quiero que sean de color rosa muy oscuro, para que se unan mejor a la composición final. Con estas líneas listas, ya va siendo momento de ponerme a colorear y dar detalles, que será la mayor parte del proceso ya que quiero un dibujo muy saturado y lleno de brillos y destellos.

I applied my first base of colors, which will not be the final ones but will help me understand my color palette and the tones of the entire drawing. I chose a range of pastel colors—yellows, pinks, and violets—with a touch of blue for the little cloud.

Apliqué mi primera base de colores, que no serán los definitivos pero me ayudarán a comprender mi paleta de colores y los tonos de todo el dibujo. Me decanté por una gama de colores pasteles: amarillos, rosas y violetas, con una pizca de azul para la nubecita.

I started working on the clothing with a bit of texture and some light and shadow, as well as on the hair, prioritizing many highlights and strong lights. Later on, I will manage the color globally across the entire drawing.

Empecé trabajando la ropa con un poco de textura y algunas luces y sombras, al igual que el pelo, priorizando muchos brillos y luces fuertes. Aunque más tarde manejaré el color de forma global en todo el dibujo.

Lastly, I worked on the skin with many textures and highlights, adding blush and some details in the occlusion areas. I also refined and enhanced each element of the clothing so that it stands out on its own. Now the most important part, and what remains, is to work on the background and on some details in the foreground of the drawing.

Por último trabajé en una piel con muchas texturas y brillos, con rubor y con algunos detalles en las zonas de oclusión. También detallé y realcé cada elemento de la ropa para que destacara por sí solo. Ahora lo más importante y lo que nos queda es trabajar en el fondo y en algunos detalles del primer plano del dibujo.
