Anime Review~ Drifting Home: Took Me Back to My Childhood (Child Protagonist)

So I recently watched "Drifting Home", a child fantasy story beyond the imagination. At first, I thought it would be a boring fantasy story as usual concept. But I was totally wrong. I was really hooked watching it and it was so intense at the same time.

The film looks soft and has a fantastic visual outside, but what about inside? Inside it has memories full of heartbreak, and also a weird feeling. If you've ever had a friend who drifted away, or you lost someone. You wanted to say something but couldn’t. Then, this anime is for you. You will relate much.

Story Summary and My Review

So here's the story which is very simple yet beyond our thought. The main protagonists Kosuke and Natsume used to be very close, they were like siblings, always together close. They spent a lot of time in a old apartment building with Kosuke’s grandpa. It was their safe place. But then, something bad happened. The grandpa passed away. And just like that, everything got weird between them.

Now the building’s about to be torn down. One summer day, they sneak inside with a few other kids, mostly out of curiosity. They thought that there must be gost in that house as it was abandoned for days. And then? Out of nowhere, the whole building drifts into the middle of the ocean. Very weird and confusing, right? I was also at the same place. I couldn’t understand what happened. I thought it was just a dream. They were also feeling the same way.

At first, I was like, “Okay, it is going to be a fantasy survival thing? Cool.” But nah, this wasn’t about monsters or getting rescued. It’s about feeling stuck. Not just physically, but emotionally. All the characters, especially Kosuke and Natsume has a close relationship earlier. But now, they don't talk much. Somehow they were drifted away. Now, it is a chance to break the ice and become together.

What about kosuke? Kosuke is angry. He misses his grandpa, but he’s too proud to admit it. Natsume’s holding onto the past like it’s the only thing keeping her together. And neither of them knows how to talk to the other anymore. That silence between them? It hurts more than anything else in the anime.

There is one thing I loved about this anime is silence . I mean there are definitely some dramatic scenes, and many things happen. But The way someone hesitates before speaking feels so real.

Also, we can talk about the visuals and how beautiful the anime is. The ocean looks so dreamy, but at the same time it was giving a weird feeling. Something between happiness and sadness. It is something like you remember a good memory from your childhood and it also gives pain. The colors, the light, the quiet water scenes, all were so perfect. It was so easy to lost in the deams of childhood looking at the water of the sea

Now let’s talk about Noppo. According to me, that boy is the main character. He is very strange from the very first time. He got a very mysterious energy, which he was hiding from others. At the very first appearance for him, you might think that he is just a normal child like others. He belongs from this weird building and got some weird energy. But then you realise, who he really is? His story was something which will give you a kick in your memory as soon as the anime ends.

The side characters like Reina, Taishi, and the others made this anime more real. Their fun and humor, friendship everything will make you love watching the anime more. They argue with each other, cry, and sometimes they get scared. They act like kids should act. There was forced wisdom that a child can't think about. All these things made this anime more engaging and fun.

By the end, this anime will take you to a journey. A journey with the children which will force you reminding your childhood. You will remember how beautiful your childhood was, and how much friends you lost or they drifted away during this.journey of life.

Recommendation?

A must watch for those who love emotional stories, good visuals, and want to go back and live their childhood for some time. Then, this anime is for you. If you struggle to make friends, and also can't confess your feelings towards your friends, this anime can be a medicine for you.

Eles passaram muito tempo em um velho prédio de apartamentos com o avô do Kosuke. Era o lugar seguro deles. Mas então, algo ruim aconteceu. O vovô faleceu. E assim, tudo ficou estranho entre eles.

Agora o prédio está prestes a ser demolido. Um dia de verão, eles entram furtivamente com algumas outras crianças, principalmente por curiosidade. Agora vamos falar sobre o Noppo. Na minha opinião, aquele garoto é o personagem principal. Ele é muito estranho desde a primeira vez. Ele tem uma energia muito misteriosa, que ele estava escondendo dos outros. À primeira vista, você pode pensar que ele é apenas uma criança normal como as outras. Ele pertence a este prédio estranho e tem uma energia estranha. Mas então você percebe, quem ele realmente é? A história dele era algo que vai te dar um choque de memória assim que o anime acabar.

Os personagens secundários como Reina, Taishi e os outros tornaram este anime mais real. A diversão e o humor deles, a amizade, tudo isso fará você amar ainda mais assistir ao anime. Eles discutem entre si, choram e às vezes ficam assustados. Eles agem como crianças devem agir. Havia uma sabedoria forçada que uma criança não consegue pensar.
