Wistoria: Wand and Sword is set in a kingdom where magic dominates and only those who have the ability to control magic are considered the best. The story revolves around the life of Will Serfort who is a good boy and works hard but when he enters a magic school, he learns about one of his difficulties is that he can't do anything with magic.

Although he can't practice spells. The only thing Will doesn't give up is his dream of reaching the top of the magic tower that is endowed with all powers and finally fulfilling the promise he made to his beloved. While the others are learning the use of basic magic and mysticism. Will then dedicates his time to physical combat and the art of war, especially swordplay, and dedicates his heart to the fight.

Most people laugh at him and even try to force him to stop. However, his strong will and open heart earn him respect from others because his brute strength and excellent sword training make him comparable to magic users. Along the way, he encounters mind-numbing demonic plots and even self-doubt but never gives up.

The best part is that the reasoning behind it is that the anime itself doesn't rely on just the captivating magical combat to the exclusion of everything else. It really puts the heart into Will's struggle. The animation flows perfectly even in the battle sequences and the soundtrack complements the atmosphere. There are some characters who at first glance seem stereotypical for their characters.
