What I Let Go Of And I Have No Regret.

There is this one thing that I let go off that I have no regret about. But if you read along, you will find out about it. Welcome to my blog, I am @sarahbaby and I am delighted to participate in this week's prompt #22 that says, What Did You Let Go Of That You Are Happy About. Please stay with me, while I take you through the journey.

There is this friendship that no longer served me that I have to let go. It wasn't an easy decision because the person was my very close friend and we had been through ups and downs together. We shared dreams and struggles together. Over time I realised that holding on to that friendship was costing me my peace, my joy and self worth.

We came up with the idea of cooking food for events and private functions together. When business deals came through me, we cooked together and share the money equally. Many times, I was the one who went shopping for the food items alone and put in more efforts to make sure everything worked out well. I did this willingly without complain.

However, whenever the business deals came from her,things will be different. At the end of the job, she would begin to explain her personal life problems, and because of that she will take 60 or 70 percent of the money and leave me with just 30 or 40 percent. Even though it hurts, I kept enduring and making excuses for her believing that friendship required sacrifice.

The shocking situation that opened my eyes happened when she got a cooking job on a day I was already occupied. I had an important appointment that I can not leave for anything. For that reason, I will not be available for the cooking deal. But my friend kept pIeeding so I decided to send another woman that is struggling at that time and needed something to do to survive. I believe I was helping everyone involved, that's who I am.

To my greatest surprise, after the cooking, and despite the fact that my best friend abandoned the whole work to this woman and the woman ended up doing all the work all by herself. My best friend gave her just 5% out of the whole money. The woman did not complain she accepted it, thinking, at least she had something to feed her children with that day.

When I called two days later to find out how everything went, that was when I found out how little she was paid. I could not hold back my tears. I confronted my friend, she confirmed it and as usual began to list her personal problems and bills. She even questioned why I was complaining, saying that the woman did not complain herself. ( Why are my taking medi over another person's headache). At that moment, everything became clear to me. I realised that she was never truly for me or for anyone else but herself. She did not see anything wrong in her actions, and that was when I decided to end the relationship.

It was painful letting her go. But I was able to do it. I reminded myself that real friendship should be built on fairness, honesty, and mutual care. I do not regret letting her go.
