A SHORT ERA
If any Nigerian sees the title of my post, it would not be hard to think about one particular president. He is someone who we have deeply missed, someone who gave Nigeria a sense of peace and security alongside economic development in his time as president but his tenor was short lived because his body could not just handle the seat of power he was in. I was very young then, but I even felt the loss of President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua. I remember how much it felt like a heartbreak hearing the reporter break the news on TV. It was so unreal, growing up after that the only president to have come close to president Yar’Adua is President Goodluck Ebele Jonahthan who was the vice president to Yar’Adua. Although he was a good man, he could not hold on to power for too long as corrupt politicians who wanted him out had their way.

The president after Jonathan made Life a living hell for us, and we have been living in that hell for almost 12 years now. It’s sad to say that when I look back at my childhood, It is so clear that the living condition of the nation was better then than it is now. It was better because we had a president like Yar’Adua who but the citizens first in spite of religion or tribe, we had a leader then who fought for his citizens and for his Nation until his last day. He did not live long, but for once the country experienced a form of peace, Life was easy, The Nations Economy was thriving, 1000 naira could last a week then, the minimum wage was enough to feed a family of two, unlike now when it can barely feed one person. The price of petrol was way cheaper because of the then government policies. The nation had very little debts and was even recovering from the international looting of previous corrupt presidents.

But then it was short-lived because death took Him away before He could fully execute his idea of a great nation. I can only imagine how Nigeria would have been if he was ruled for 8 years, and his vice continued after him. We would have had a more stable economy to what we have today. He would have laid a great foundation for others to build on, and we would not have to be wondering what is wrong with our government today. It’s a shame when I see a lot of the decisions our government makes for us, loans upon loan, leaving more loans than they met and giving the next president more burden to bear. The state of the country then becomes another point of concern because how the hell did we get here. I guess it is the kind of question you ask when the government is bad and keeps making bad decisions. I remember when the last president came with the lie of fighting corruption but ended up with an even more corrupt nation than he met. I mean his successor is a former drug lord which tells you about the current state of the Nation.
THIS IS MY RESPONSE TO HIVE LEARNER'S PROMPT FOR WEEK 207 EPISODE 1

A president Nigeria will never forget yaradua, continue to rest peace. Well, I will not say Good luck make Nigeria a hell because I think the bad ones make his Nigeria a bad one
The good old days when 1000 naira was enough to take you to another country, lol. The impact of President Yar'Adua was felt across all sector and this prompt just proved it.
