My Sketchquest Entry: The Goose Chase

image.png

I tried to chase a memory I couldn’t quite pin down you know how IG works sometimes it gets weird. It is a post I saw once, then lost mid scroll that happens a lot to me. What stuck was this: a girl wearing a bird for a crown, an orange corset hugging her waist, and the sense of being mid leap, halfway between running away and or maybe even flying. So I drew her as she came back to my memory: startled, reaching out, and BAM.

I think in a sense searching for things like that on your feed is just like a weird wild goose chase don't you think? and hence the title of my art today. This is also going to be my entry to the sketchquest contest for September.

Here I show you some snapshots while I was making this drawing:
I am trying to capture her motion and angles based from memory. There is nothing really on her hand but it should be up and I thought some flowers would fill the void. Initially there is a small hand bag but later on that became a small backpack

Here I am figuring out what autumn colors would fit her look. I added some curly golden hair sticking out of her goose head piece and I think that worked.

The last part is the background I chose a brownish background then added the shadow as a final touch

Thank you for reading hope you like my entry to the sketchquest drawing contest

Limited palette (white, orange, brown, green, yellow) makes her pop while keeping things cohesive. Very autumn-core.

I love reading posts like these I see how the artist arrived at the finished look what are the things added or removed and what decisions were made and are they worth it? I think you did well in tweaking your autumn girl illustration like adding those golden locks and the bag . nice one.
