The Quiet Bat

I saw this DTIYS drawing challenge of @london65 on the drawaday community which is a bat character dressed up so elegant, almost theatrical with its beautiful garments. I really wanted to make my own version of it . I wanted this bat to feel older and wiser that had built some confidence already. I am thinking the kind that doesn’t need to prove anything anymore. I made the outfit to look deep purple, heavy and calm, like something worn by someone who’s lived a long time and learned when to stay quiet. The pose is gentle and reserved. Looks like the bat is thinking deeply before making any judgment. That is the vibe.

Oh by the way this is my entry also for the SketchQuest drawing contest. it’s still loose, still a bit rough, but that’s how i like it. I am more interested in mood than polish. sometimes a character only needs a few shapes and textures to tell you who they are.
