Weekly HSBI Giveaway for the Splinterlands Community #13

HSBI Titelbild.png

Happy Monday everyone and welcome to the my weekly HSBI giveaway for the Splinterlands community!

Last week, the long-awaited expansion Conclave Arcana was finally introduced to the game. The first packs have already been opened and many of the Black Foils and Arcane Foils have already been mined. The new meta in Modern is still being tested diligently. I think this will take a while, as not many people have Rebellion cards and not too many Conclave Arcana cards are available yet. They also announced another promo card and that's Yaba's Pickle. This card will be available in different ways, all information can be found in this announcement blog. So, as always in the last weeks and months, once again an exciting week with many announcements and new features.

Answers to the last Question:

Last week's question was "After Chaos Legion rotates out of Modern shortly: Which Rebellion card do you think will be the strongest in the new Modern meta?". This time, 9 people took part and answered the question. Let's have a look at some of your answers.

@txracer:

Overall Tofu will continue to be really strong, since it is just a counter to melee.

I think Eternal Tofu was the card that was mentioned the most. Unsurprisingly. As you described, melee attackers are strongly countered thanks to the ability Thorns, but other strategies are also possible with the Archon from Earth and Life Splinter. In my opinion, the developers even made the card a bit too strong, which I think is a shame. But I don't want to complain, so far there have been one or two overpowered cards in almost every set.

@artofkylin:

Commander Slade is def gonna be up there. Olivia is also up there, at least at level 2. That mimic skill is awesome. Those two are both awesome. :D

Oh yes, you've named two really good cards. The particularly nice thing about them is that they are both reward cards and therefore rather easy to obtain. Commander Slade is almost indispensable in a matchup with a lot of Melee Attackers and Olivia of the Brook can be a real gamechanger thanks to the Ability Mimic, if you position her correctly in the lineup and have a bit of luck.

@doombot75:

With the lack of a force field ability I think Venka will start to run even more wild at all levels, add in the orc summoner and a deflect and it’s a real powerhouse

Venka of the Vile is also one of my favorites. That's why I bought a copy of it recently. And even though the card was anything but cheap, I'd say it was worth it. I play Venka so often and I'm really happy with her, even though I only play her on the first level. I haven't played her with the new Water Archon yet, but that can be a really good combination.

@squirrelacus:

If I had to make a guess I would say Lorkus would be a pretty clean powerhouse. It will certainly be interesting to see how the meta shifts and everything plays out.

The melee and the magic attack buff alone make Lorkus a damn strong Archon. Together with Eternal Tofu, I think Lorkus will be played most successfully. And the crazy thing is that it covers four different splinters with Life, Earth, Death and Fire Splinter.

I would also like to mention a card from the Rebellion expansion that I think is very strong. Maybe not quite as good as the two Archons mentioned, Lorkus and Eternal Tofu, and not quite as good as Venka the Vile, but the cost-benefit ratio of this card is incredible. I underestimated Shock Tropper at release, but now it's one of my most used cards. The high magic attack for this low cost is incredibly strong and in combination with Akane and the Ambush ability, some battles are decided very early on. In my battles with the new Modern meta so far, I've already noticed that I often fall back on Shock Trooper and win a lot of games with it.

And the Winner is...

Looking at gameplay and mechanics my favourite is probably Abyssal Elemental. I really like the Resurgence ability. It turns the card into a decent tank.

It's difficult to pick just one, but I'll go with Moribund Arrowbait because it has the "new Martyr" plus Rebirth. Since I have always loved using Martyr, Bloodline Tribute is also fun to use.

Which Conclave Arcana card do you like the most so far?
The promo card Arcane skinwalker. Not only is it a pretty good card, it's ablity to be in whatever bloodline is amazing. I was ridiculously lucky and got a gold one as a reward for buying packs. :D

Also agree that Vanka the vile is a great card, doubly so if she gets enrage from the orc bloodline. She's on my wishlist of cards to get.

The funniest is definitely Tay Loreswift. I mean, how much more allusive can you get with abilities? Reach, Inspire, Snare and Piercing? I laughed hard the first time I saw the card, and still chuckle now that I write it down. And it's super useful, too!
