Ladies of Hive Community Contest #243 -Memories of my cat
Greetings dear Hiveans at the Ladies of Hive community. An interesting prompt initiated by @elizabethbit. To know more click this link
If you could have any animal for a pet, what would you choose and why? Would you prefer the male or the female animal of that
This very question reminded me of my beautiful memories with my lovely cats. I started loving them only after they became a member of my family. They get attached to us easily when you start caressing it.
We had 2 cats as pets, at different intervals of time. I feel they are more active as kids rather than getting old. And ofcourse, they adapt to our environment easily. The first cat was active while the second was proactive. Both of them preferred snacks to other foods. Even today I remember, no matter where they are, on hearing the loosening of plastic covers filled with snacks, they are here right in front of us for a crunch.
I lost my first cat to a ferocious dog. This happened during the midnight in our absence. It was difficult to digest the fact for few days that it was no more with us.

In the meantime, I got my second one from a friend of mine. One morning, it came in accidentally to my home. On seeing me it hid behind the refrigerator. It was too little for the huge refrigerator. Usually, cats in our place love fishes rather than anything else. So just to keep it coming, I gave some fresh little prawns. May be it was hungry, it cleared the whole plate and ran away. I waited the whole day, but it did not turn up.
Next day, at the same time; I saw this little mischeivous cat coming out from a bush and this time headed straight towards me keeping a distance. I still remember the stare it gave me when I questioned where it ran away the other day. This time I gave it rice mixed with fish curry in a plantain leaf. Once it finish eating, it ran away like a wind.
Each day it became a routine for it to visit, to eat and then disappear until the next day morning. Slowly it became close to all members of our family especially my son, who was busy preparing for his final exams. The cat remained seated comfortably on his books and when he slept, this little one was under his bedsheet cover.
When nobody around, it showed its energy on me either moving around whereever I went or jumping over the mop while I clean and finally sleeping nearby me. Being a regular visitor made us happy. End of the day, it goes to its owner.
Day rolled by, making us laugh over its naughtiness. But one fine morning it didn't turn up and my friend said it was sick. Later after two days it was once again back to track and this time more joyful and playful. This routone continued until one day, it did not visit. We waited for two days, then three and then four..... days rolled by but it didn't turn up. It was so painful, because each day it would turn up with something new which made us laugh. But then we didn't know this was the last. So disheartening...
I believe all of should have experienced something good with our pets. No matter its a male or female unless it harms us, its nice to entertain these pets.
The photos posted above are of the second cat. Though it stayed only for few years, it has left too many memories to erase. Please note these photos were captured much earlier and were posted in other communities earlier. As the suggested title relates to my pet, I posted them again.
Hope you enjoyed reading my article. Thanks for your valuable time and visit.

Thankyou 🙂
Oh, it's too much to bear... I am deeply saddened to hear of your loss. You are right, a pet still leaves a big impact in our lives... But the memories you have shared are lovely, thank you so much 🙏❤️
It was a real loss my friend, because it kept us entertaining the whole day. But then we have to move on... that's it. Have a nice day my friend.
It is tough when you get used to having a 'borrowed' pet and then they disappear. Perhaps you need to go get a cat! They are wonderful pets and companions! Thank you for sharing and have a lovely day!
They are definitely wonderful pets. But for fear of stray dogs around , we can never go for a cat. Wishing you also a wonderful day 😊
Our kitties used to be indoor/outdoor cats. That is until a neighbor on the next road (we live in a rural area) decided to try to shoot and kill one of my cats that tended to roam. The kitty dragged himself home after being gone for 4 days and was in dire straights, but did survive. From that point on, we decided no cat of ours would be outside. Not only do we have the human predators, but the cars, birds of prey, bobcats and cougars along with an occasional bear (they typically wouldn't eat a kitty, but if it's sick and or starving, it could) that comes along.
The two kitties I have now are happiest indoors. They are afraid of outdoors, which in my mind is good given what lies in wait out there. Consequently, I've had a few kitties live 16 and 18 years old. It's much safer indoors here.
Take care and have a lovely day! !LADY
Ahh.. so sad. How could one ever thing of shooting this poor cat. The kitty should have been scared after the gun shot until it found solace at your home. Good decision you have kept them indoors.
Here most cats are out. They tend to stay indoors only for few hours.
I really don't know why anyone would do what he did, but that was enough for me. Indoors they stay.
Take care my friend and have a lovely day! !LADY
