Mothers | LOH #237 contest week

Greetings ladies, happy to be back and ready to answer this week's questions.

Saludos ladies, feliz de estar otra vez aquí y lista para responder a las preguntas de esta semana.

Whether your mother is with us in person or in spirit, what is/was your plan to celebrate Mother's Day this year?

Fortunately, my mother is doing well, but we're not close. We now live in different countries because I decided to seek new opportunities to change my life. My mother, with great sadness, realized it was time to spread my wings. I'm her only daughter and the youngest, so it was a pretty tough blow.

This year was a bit difficult for me because my current job takes a while (quite a while) to pay me. I usually prepare a gift in advance for a certain occasion, and when I have everything, I usually let my mother know so she's not caught off guard, and also because I understand that she has things and places to go during the day. We've done this in previous years. This one was a little different, we talked a little over video calls, we greeted each other, we remembered moments, I apologized because I owe her her gift, we didn't talk for as long as I would have liked because that day I had to work in multiple places to bring tastings, usually these holidays are the busiest, but at least we managed to keep in touch, I hope that those who have their mother nearby are able to appreciate her and hug her a lot.

Ya sea que tu madre esté con nosotros en persona o en espíritu, ¿cuál es/era tu plan para celebrar el Día de la Madre este año?

Mi madre se encuentra afortunadamente bien pero no estamos cerca, ahora vivimos en diferentes países porque yo tomé la decisión de buscar nuevas oportunidades para cambiar mi vida, mi madre con mucha tristeza entendió que era momento de abrir mis alas, yo soy su única hija mujer y la más pequeña, así que fue un golpe bastante duro.

Este año me tocó un poco difícil porque el actual trabajo donde estoy se demoran un poco (bastante) en pagarme. Yo por lo general para alguna fecha preparo un detalle con anticipación y cuando ya tengo todo suelo avisar a mi madre para que tampoco la tome por sorpresa y también porque entiendo que ella tiene cosas y lugares a donde ir durante el día. En años anteriores hemos hecho así. Este fue un poco diferente, hablamos un poco por videollamadas, nos saludamos, recordamos momentos, me disculpé porque le debo su obsequio, no hablamos por tanto tiempo como me gustaría porque ese día tuve que trabajar en multiples lugares para llevar degustaciones, por lo general estos días festivos son los que más trabajo hay, pero al menos logramos mantenernos en comunicación, espero que los que tengan a su madre cerca sean capaz de apreciarla y abrazarla bastante.

Ut’s tough being far from your mom, especially on special days like this, but your love and effort still shine through. I’m sure she felt it too. Life gets hectic, but those little moments of connection really do mean everything.

Thank God for video technology. Your circumstances may not be ideal to expectations but it is what we can do in the present and hope there will be better opportunities in the future. I know your life is very much a real struggle, but you recognize that your connection with your mother is still a vital one that goes beyond material gifts.
