Karma is real.

We often hear people talk about karma. Some people do not believe in it while others do. Personally, I strongly believe in karma because I see it as part of nature, and we should never joke with nature since it always has a way of bouncing back. I have personally experienced karma working in my favor in a good way.

There is a simple act of kindness I often show to people whenever I have some cash and I am in public transport. Sometimes, I just feel like paying the transport fare for some passengers, especially the elderly. One day, however, I was not financially stable but had several places to visit. My transport fare was not enough to cover all the trips, so I decided I would trek part of the way and pay for transport when necessary.

I stopped a tricycle and entered. When it was time for me to pay, someone inside told me not to worry that they would pay for me. I was surprised but thanked the person and moved on. Since I didn’t pay, I decided to take another taxi to my next location. Along the way, a man who joined the taxi paid the driver but did not collect his change. He told the driver to use the remaining money to cover my fare. I was so happy because I didn’t have to pay again.

Later that day, after finishing all my errands, on my way home, the driver again had no change to give me and told me not to worry about it. I was so surprised that day. Truly, karma works.

I also remember a woman in our community who could not walk and moved around by sitting and crawling on her buttocks. Growing up, we thought it was just a normal disability. But one day, my father told us a story that made us understand that it might have been karma at work. He said that long ago, the woman had caught someone’s goat that entered her compound and, out of anger, broke all four legs of the goat. The goat could no longer walk properly, and the villagers were shocked. A few weeks later, the woman fell ill, and the sickness affected her legs, leaving her unable to walk again. People in the village attributed it to karma, and it might truly have been so.

Karma still works, and we should always be mindful of our actions and inactions because they have a way of coming back to us.

If that’s a true life story, then wow! I believe in karma also. It’s possible someone got to her before karma did
