On Hive, the big decision remains: Power Up to grow or Cash Out your rewards?
Since joining, my strategy has been simple and consistent. Power Up is always my default choice. Cashing out only comes as a last resort when there are pressing needs. As a newbie in this bearish market, my rewards are still small, so growing my account makes far more sense than withdrawing tiny amounts.

The real game-changer for me was understanding Hive Power (HP).HP is your stake in the ecosystem,it determines your voting strength, curation rewards, and overall influence. The more HP you build, the more you earn over time through compounding.

100,000 HP, Vote value ≈ $0.323
1,000,000 HP, Vote value ≈ $3.232

Note:The above calculation is based on 100% vote and at the current price of HIVE.

You can see the massive difference? A whale with 1 million HP can add over $3 to a post’s potential payout with one vote, while a small account adds almost nothing.
See how quickly the value scales? Every time you power up, you’re not just holding HIVE,you are multiplying your future earning potential and influence on the platform.
This is exactly why I prioritize powering up.In a bear market, acquiring HP at lower prices positions you for greater rewards when things recover. Short-term cash-outs might solve immediate problems, but they reduce your ability to benefit from Hive’s long-term growth.

What Happens When You Upvote a Post at 100%?
Your Hive Power (HP) directly determines the weight and dollar value of your upvote.

• Higher HP = Stronger upvote.A user with 1,000,000 HP gives a much bigger boost to a post than someone with 1,000 HP.It is not rocket 🚀 science,I experience it everyday.

• The upvote adds rshares (reward shares) to the post. These shares decide how the rewards pool is distributed after the 7-day payout period.

• The vote value (what you saw in the Aliento calculator) shows exactly how much your 100% vote is currently worth in USD. This value comes from:

• Your total Hive Power.

• Current HIVE price,

• The overall rewards pool on Hive

Two Main Effects on the Post
1 Author Rewards (50% of the total payout)
Your vote increases the total rshares on the post. The more rshares the post collects, the larger the overall reward pool slice it gets. The author then receives 50% of that in a mix of HBD (cash-like) and HP.But now HP/HP

2 Curation Rewards (the other 50%)
You (the voter) earn a share of the curation rewards based on your vote’s size and timing. Early, high-HP votes get better curation bonuses. This is paid to you in HP, which compounds your own power over time.

Some prefer immediate earnings, and that’s understandable depending on personal situations. For me, the mindset is clear: build HP, grow steadily, and play the long game.
