If Money Wasn’t a Problem, I would Own a Business!
Hey Hive family! 👋 Happy Easter Celebration 🎉.

I saw this powerful visual from #IndiaUnited Weekly Contest and it hit me right in the chest.
The image shows a young guy deep in thought, surrounded by every dream you can imagine: a sleek mansion with a pool glowing at night, a futuristic sports car slicing through the dark, a private jet circling the globe, a happy family moment, stacks of cash, gold coins, and a laptop running charts.
The big question floating in gold letters:
“If money wasn’t a problem, what would you buy , and why?”
I’ve been asked variations of this question many times in my life, in interviews, group chats, late-night conversations, and even business masterminds. And my answer has always been the same.I would buy a business.
Not just any business. I’m talking about a scalable, high-impact, legacy-building business empire that generates consistent cash flow, creates jobs, solves real problems, and gives me (and my family) total freedom.
Why a business and not the mansion, the car, the jet, or the stacks of cash?
Because everything else in this picture is a result, not the source.
Buy the dream house? Cool, but how do you maintain the bills, the staff, the property taxes when the money eventually finishes?
Buy the Lamborghini or the private jet? Amazing for a season, but fuel, maintenance, insurance, and depreciation will eat you alive if there’s no system producing money daily.Stack cash and gold? It loses value over time if it’s just sitting there. Inflation, bad decisions, or emergencies can wipe it out.
Even the happy family photo, the deepest why for most of us,needs security and peace of mind that only sustainable wealth can provide.
A business, on the other hand, is the machine that prints all those things indefinitely. From one strong business I can:
- Buy the house (or better, multiple properties).
- Get the cars (and the plane, if the numbers justify it).
- Travel the world first-class without checking prices.
- Spoil my family and still have more than enough
- Hire people, create employment in Warri were I reside and beyond.
- Give back to my community in Edo State and Nigeria at large.
- Build something my children and grandchildren can inherit or scale even bigger.
That’s the difference between temporary pleasure and permanent power.
What kind of business would I build?
Since I’ve always loved business (it’s been my obsession since I was a teenager), I’d go into something I’m genuinely passionate about — probably a mix of:
- Tech-enabled services (maybe fintech, logistics, or e-commerce tailored for the African market)
- Real estate development (because shelter is a basic need and it appreciates like crazy).
- Or even a diversified holding company that owns multiple profitable arms.Or even a
- Domestic cooking gas (LPG gas ⛽) business.(My favorite since adolescent).
The exact niche doesn’t matter as much as the principle: it must be something that solves a painful problem for thousands or millions of people, generates recurring revenue, and can run even when I’m sleeping or traveling. Why does this matter to me personally? Because I’ve seen what happens when people win money but don’t have the vehicle to multiply it. Lottery winners go broke. Sudden inheritance disappears. But the person who owns a system (a business) keeps winning long after the initial “money” is gone.I want freedom, not just financial freedom, but time freedom, location freedom, and the freedom to say “yes” to opportunities and “no” to things that don’t serve my purpose.I want to wake up every day knowing that my decisions today are building wealth for generations, not just for the next few years.
So if money truly wasn’t a problem tomorrow, my first purchase wouldn’t be a flashy toy.It would be the engine that keeps producing every toy, every experience, and every impact I could ever dream of.
This is my answer, Hive.If money wasn’t a problem, I would buy a business, because a business buys everything else forever.
What about you? Would you go for the house, the car, the travel, the family support, or like me,the business that makes all of them possible?
