What type of food do you prefer? Are you on the 'healthy team' or do you prefer junk food? Or do you simply maintain a good balance between the two?
It might be more politically correct to say that I love healthy food, but that wouldn’t be entirely true. It’s not that I only eat junk food, as that isn’t the case either. It happens that in life, everything is a matter of balance and above all, feeling good about ourselves.
I’m a person who loves to cook for family, so I get lost among delicious recipes and stoves to pamper my loved ones. And although I could try to educate them to eat food with fewer carbohydrates and oils, they prefer rice loaded with sauces.
Here, for example, I show you some rice balls filled with meat and cheese, coated with egg to seal them and fried in hot oil, which are my son’s favorites.
At the same time, I love fruits, especially papaya. I usually slice it and sprinkle it with a little salt. And I am as happy in that moment as children are with candy.
So yes, maybe I have found my own balance between the types of food we enjoy at home, but above all, I have tried not to lose sight of what is most important: food is not our enemy. The day we learn to nourish ourselves without guilt, it is possible that we will stop fighting with it. And I'm not trying to romanticize obesity due to poor diet since extremes are bad.
I’m just saying that many times it’s not even the food itself that makes us gain weight but rather the quantities we consume throughout the day.

Puede que sea más políticamente correcto decir que amo la comida saludable, pero no sería del todo cierto. Y no es que me alimente solamente de comida chatarra, pues tampoco es el caso. Sucede que en la vida todo es cuestión de balance y sobre todas las cosas, de sentirnos bien con nosotras mismas.
Soy una persona que ama cocinar para la familia, así que me pierdo entre recetas deliciosas y fogones para consentir a los míos. Y aunque podría intentar educarlos a comer comida con menos carbohidratos y aceites, ellos prefieren el arroz cargado de salsas.
Aquí, por ejemplo, les muestro unas bolas de arroz, rellenas con carne y queso, revestida con huevo para sellar y frita en aceite caliente, que son las favoritas de mi hijo.
Al mismo tiempo me encantan las frutas, sobre todo la frutabomba. Suelo picarla en lonjas y salpicarlas con un poquitico de sal. Y soy tan feliz en ese momento, como los niños con los dulces.
Así que sí, quizás he encontrado mi propio balance entre los tipos de comida que degustamos en casa, pero, sobre todo, he intentado no perder de vista lo más importante: la comida no es nuestra enemiga. El día que aprendamos a alimentarnos sin culpas, es posible que consigamos dejar de pelear con ella. Y no estoy intentando romantizar la obesidad a causa de la mala alimentación, pues todos los extremos son malos.
Solo digo que, en muchas ocasiones, ni siquiera es la propia comida en sí la que engorda, sino las cantidades que consumimos en el día.
