NEEDLEWORKMONDAY-Barbie y el último verano del amor. [Barbie: The Last Summer of Love.]

Hola needleworkers 😊 el evento del año ha llegado donde barbies de todo tipo son protagonistas con sus trajes preciosos, como el concurso de este año es de volver en el tiempo investigue que era lo que quería hacer, mi época favorita para la ropa son los años 60's 70's y la moda hippie, el último verano del amor fue un tema de investigación que hice en un trabajo sobre cultura hace unos años y quede muy atraída por muchas cosas, el contraste de estampa y colores me fascina.

Hello needleworkers 😊 The event of the year has arrived where Barbies of all kinds are the protagonists with their beautiful outfits, as this year's contest is about going back in time I researched what I wanted to do, my favorite era for clothing is the 60's 70's and hippie fashion, the last summer of love was a research topic I did for a project on culture a few years ago and I was very attracted to many things, the contrast of prints and colors fascinates me.

El último verano del amor sucedió en 1967, un festival de música, amor y mucha libertad, la ropa hippie cuando la usaban jajaja estaba compuesta por vestidos, pantalones acampanados y blusas con grandes mangas, los vestidos tienen un corte en A, pero también los hay más al cuerpo, en esta edición voy a llevar a Barbie a vivir su último verano del amor con un traje de dos piezas de vestido y blusa.

The last summer of love happened in 1967, a festival of music, love and a lot of freedom, hippie clothing when they wore it hahaha was made up of dresses, flared pants and blouses with big sleeves, the dresses have an A-line cut, but there are also more form-fitting ones, in this edition I'm going to take Barbie to live her last summer of love with a two-piece dress and blouse outfit.

Para mis prendas elegí una sarga en color marrón 🤎 un color muy de moda en aquellos años y para la estampa una tela a rayas es una especie de lanilla de algodón muy suave, este retacito me lo dieron en la facultad así que usar en barbie era mi mejor opción, muchos de los retazos que tengo son de muestrarios de diferentes telas y esas donaciones de empresas llegan a los alumnos, pero no siempre los usamos en trabajos o a veces es muy poco lo que usamos.

For my clothes I chose a brown twill 🤎 a very fashionable color in those years and for the print a striped fabric is a kind of very soft cotton fleece, this little scrap was given to me at the faculty so using it in Barbie was my best option, many of the scraps I have are from samples of different fabrics and those donations from companies reach the students, but we don't always use them in our projects or sometimes we use very little.

Empecé haciendo un nuevo corpiño base y la falda, hice moldes nuevos ya que buscaba que la pinza de busto sea más fácil para coser, así que con este nuevo corpiño base marcado al cuerpo de barbie tengo para muchos conjuntos.

I started by making a new base bodice and skirt, I made new patterns since I wanted to make the bust dart easier to sew, so with this new base bodice marked on Barbie's body I have enough for many outfits.

Corté mis telas y a coser, primero las pinzas las cosí a mano para sujetarlas, son pequeñas así que necesitaba que se queden en su lugar, una vez que estaban sostenidas pase a la máquina.

I cut my fabrics and started sewing. First, I sewed the darts by hand to hold them in place. They are small so I needed them to stay in place. Once they were secured, I moved on to the sewing machine.

Corté la espalda y uní con el frente por los hombros, es un vestido que no tiene mangas ya que eso se lo dará la blusa.

I cut the back and joined it with the front at the shoulders. It is a dress that does not have sleeves since the blouse will provide that.

Para las terminaciones de brazos y escote esta vez use entretela de pegar jajaja me habían sobrado unos retazos en la facultad y es un muy buen material, quería aprovechar cada partecita, si bien no salió costosa es por que pudimos hacer compra mayorista, así que Barbie aprovechara muchos retazos, además de pegar también hice una pequeña costura casi decorativa.

For the arm and neckline finishes this time I used glued interfacing, hahaha, I had some leftover scraps from college and it's a very good material, I wanted to use every little bit, although it wasn't expensive it was because we were able to buy in bulk, so Barbie would use up a lot of scraps, in addition to gluing I also made a small, almost decorative seam.

Con el frente listo pase al ruedo de la faldita y a unirlo por la cintura, con mucha plancha el vestido ya estaba listo.

With the front ready, I moved on to the hem of the skirt and joined it at the waist. With a lot of ironing, the dress was ready.

La primera prueba se ve así, quedo mucho mejor este corpiño base, hace bastante no cosía para mi pequeña Barbie, pero acá volvimos en esta edición.

The first test looks like this, this basic bodice turned out much better. I haven't sewn for my little Barbie in a while, but here we are again in this edition.

Para la blusa corte rectángulos grandes para las mangas y un corpiño base en tela de punto para el torso.

For the blouse, cut large rectangles for the sleeves and a base bodice in knit fabric for the torso.

Primero puse las mangas al torso para sostener, como necesito que las mangas sean amplias no hice copas, sino rectángulos que me den el vuelo que necesito.

First I put the sleeves on the torso to support, as I need the sleeves to be wide I didn't make cups, but rectangles that give me the flare I need.

Pase a unir los laterales para ya tener la blusa lista que forma parte de este conjunto.
Con ambas piezas listas todo el conjunto se ve así, obvio detrás tiene velcro para poder cerrar. El conjunto se acompaña con las botas negras de Barbie que van con todo.

Now join the sides to have the blouse ready, which is part of this outfit. With both pieces ready, the whole outfit looks like this. It obviously has a Velcro closure at the back. The outfit is accompanied by the black Barbie boots that go with everything.

Y para finalizar corté una tirita de la tela a rayas y se la puse a modo de vincha, y funciona también como cinturón que se ata. me encantó hacer este conjunto y volver a participar de este gran concurso, estoy muy llena de actividades de la facultad, pero no me lo quería perder, espero que les haya gustado tanto como a mi hacerlo.

And to finish, I cut a strip of striped fabric and used it as a headband. It also doubles as a belt that ties. I loved making this outfit and participating in this great contest again. I'm so busy with college activities, but I didn't want to miss it. I hope you enjoyed making it as much as I did.
