Performance “Censorship” / Monomad Challenge [Eng/Esp]

In the collective memory of Cubans, the egg is not just a food, during the hardest decades of the revolutionary process, especially in the events of the Mariel in 1980, the act of repudiation institutionalized the civil lynching. Throwing eggs was the initiation rite to demonstrate fidelity to the system through the humiliation of the other. Here the egg becomes censorship, which even forces colleagues to participate in the cancellation or silencing of the artist. If in the 80s in Cuba, the egg sought physical and moral destruction in front of the facade of a house, today censorship in Cuba acts as a stain of white and yolk on the digital and professional body of the creator, these are the eggs of the modern era. Censorship is the laws designed to fine and erase the artist who refuses to obey aesthetics and politics.

En la memoria colectiva de los cubanos, el huevo no es solo un alimento, durante las décadas más duras del proceso revolucionario, especialmente en los acontecimientos del Mariel en 1980, el acto de repudio institucionalizó el linchamiento civil. Lanzar huevos era el rito de iniciación para demostrar fidelidad al sistema a través de la humillación del otro. Aquí el huevo se convierte en censura, que incluso obliga a los compañeros a participar en la cancelación o silenciamiento del artista. Si en los años 80 en Cuba, el huevo buscaba la destrucción física y moral frente a la fachada de una casa, hoy la censura en Cuba actúa como una mancha de blanco y yema en el cuerpo digital y profesional del creador, estos son los huevos de la era moderna. La censura es la leyes diseñada para multar y borrar al artista que se niega a obedecer la estética y la política.
