Love me above all else / 5-minute daily message

For years, I searched outside for what I could only find within. I believed that love was a prize earned by being useful, pleasing, existing for others. I fragmented myself into a thousand versions, hoping that one would be enough to deserve affection. Until I grasped the most liberating truth: loving myself above all else is not selfishness, it is the survival of the soul.

Loving yourself first means listening to your body when it asks for rest, even when the world demands productivity. It is setting boundaries without guilt, saying "no" without making excuses, choosing peace even if it disappoints others. It is allowing yourself to fail without turning it into a sentence, speaking with the same tenderness with which you would comfort someone you love dearly.

This self-love does not exclude others; it includes them from a healthier place. Because only those who are full can share without overflowing out of obligation. When I become my own priority, I stop waiting for others to fill voids that only I can heal. My relationships become a choice, not a need; companionship, not a crutch.

Today I choose to look in the mirror and recognize myself. I don't wait for someone else to validate my existence, nor do I place my happiness in someone else's hands. Loving myself above all else means remembering each morning that I deserve my own care, my own patience, my own forgiveness. It means building a home within myself where I can always return.

Because at the end of the day, the only relationship that lasts forever is the one I have with myself. And it deserves to be the most beautiful of all.
