Nestled amidst the lush forests of Aceh Jaya is a place that serves as both a home and the last refuge for endangered wildlife: the Central Response Unit (CRU) Sampoiniet. This location is known as a center for the conservation and protection of Sumatran elephants, where humans and animals live together in harmony.

This black and white photo I'm sharing features a pair of tame elephants that are part of the large family at the Sampoiniet Central Response Unit (CRU). With their majestic size and beautiful long tusks, they appear to be walking calmly, accompanied by their mahouts (elephant handlers). This image is not merely a picture of wildlife, but a symbol of the profound relationship between humans and nature.

The Sampoiniet CRU plays a vital role in reducing conflicts between wild elephants and humans. The elephants at this unit are trained to help keep wild herds within the forest area, preventing them from damaging crops or villages.
