Qurator's Photo Quest - Lines

avatar

Hi everyone! Today I'm going to share a picture I captured during one of my trips to Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia. I noticed an ongoing photography contest that is hosted by @qurator with the theme of 'Lines' for this week. I thought of giving it a try and hence submitting my entry in to the contest here.

This is the cabana area at a premium living residence I went to. The place is called the Beacon Executive Suites and I have been a few times here. This section is nothing short of lines as there were many vertical bars set up for safety reasons as this is a high floor of the building. There is also a guard on the floor at all times when it's open and he keeps watch of everyone just to ensure the safety and a harmonious environment. This area had wooden floorboards and I think they matched the bars as they created more line pattern.

There are some benches available at the cabana where we can sit and relax. However there is a limit and only 5 people can be here at a time as this section is separate and seems like it's floating. We can feel and hear the wooden floor sounds as we walk. Children must be accompanied by their parents too.

We can get closer to the bars to see the whole Georgetown from such a high floor. There is a boundary though as the management has installed some mesh structure with grid pattern with a ton of more lines. This is for added safety measures so no one can put their hands or feet out of the gaps. It is ironic how the vast view of cityscape is inviting but these matrix lines set a boundary both visually and physically.

Here's another angle of the Georgetown city. It is a beautiful place, with modern infrastructure while also maintaining the vintage buildings and structures. I am hoping to go there again to enjoy a change of environment.

At the time I'm posting this, the timer is still going on and I hope it's accurate on my phone as the timer seemed different earlier. I wish all the best to all participants. Thanks for dropping by, and thank you for hosting this contest @qurator. I wish everyone a wonderful day ahead!
