Hey everyone! 👋 How are you doing? I’m here with something a little different that I’m pretty happy about. This week I decided to join the Splinterlands art contest again and I wanted to share what I’ve been working on.
I made this piece in Corel Painter, a program I really enjoy because it feels a lot like painting on a real canvas, but with all the freedom of digital tools. This time I took it slow, no pressure, just enjoying the process.

This is the character I have taken as a reference for this week.
I recorded a full video while I was painting. Later, I took some screenshots , so you could see all the evolution , since they show how the piece evolved from the first strokes all the way to the final result.
What I found interesting about this session is that I didn’t plan everything out. I just started trying out different brushes in the program and, after a few tests, I found one that clicked with me. From there everything flowed much easierbut ..... yes, definitely every time in corel painter I learn and discover something new.
I practically started this drawing without a clear idea. and little by little letting the piece shape itself, almost as if I were just accompanying the process instead of forcing it. It’s a much more relaxed way of creating, with fewer rules.
There is something I do every time I finish a drawing and that is to watch the video. Recording the process also helped me see how I actually work. Sometimes we focus so much on the final result that we forget how valuable each stage in between can be. Watching the video later felt like rediscovering the whole journey. I have a lot of videos saved that I sometimes watch again.
I won’t lie mmmmm I had a lot of fun along the way. There were moments of trial and error, but always with that playful feeling of exploring the tools, That's normal and honestly what I love most about digital painting, the freedom to experiment without fear. Besides, after making some changes that I didn't like I found something else and that's good because every time Corel is a new experience.
I liked doing this fan art a lot because it is not the opposite of what I usually do, try to detail everything and this time it was not like that, just detail what I needed, and so I didn't waste time.
I worked on all the drawing parts except the face, it almost always happens that I leave that for the last.
ohhhh ss always for the end I always leave some color adjustments and adjust the brightness and others. ... Oh ! What I liked the most about this piece was discovering that new brush in Corel Painter. It gave the artwork a texture I hadn’t used before, and I’m really happy with how it turned out.
Thank you very much for taking the time to view my work.
Oh, and one more thing before I wrap up...
A while ago I was looking for this little shark you see down here 🦈. It’s really special to me. I won it a long time ago here, n it was done by a person many years ago but also I consider a GREAT GREAT GREAT FRIEND now n who does amazing work , very talented🤗.
I thought I had lost it , I was very sad… but noooo! I got it back! Yes ! He found n sent it to me again, and I’m so happy to have it with me once more.
So from now on, this shark will be keeping me company 💙
Now yes! See you next time.
