Entry for the Shadow Contest/SMASh - Round 405 - African Milk Tree

Welcome to my entry for today's SMASh contest from "The Shadow Hunters Community"!

Shorter days mean less time to catch the shadows... Before we know it, it's already nighttime.

Even so, a couple of months ago, while preparing a comforting cup of lemon balm tea, I noticed the spectacular shadow that my succulent African milk tree - Euphorbia trigona ‘Rubra’ - cast on my kitchen tiles.

Also known as the cathedral cactus, due to its height and shape, it is native to Central Africa. Although this cactus does not flower, it is thought to be a hybrid.

How do you capture your favorite shadows? Do you try to look at the shadows that objects or beings cast on the ground and around them, or do you look for something that you think has an interesting shape and place it so that the light works its magic?

With Christmas just a few days away, time is passing faster than ever. The younger ones are anxiously waiting. Opening presents marks a magical moment, in which many find a little comfort in this gesture.

I am grateful for having a roof over my head to rest and protect me, and for not having to go hungry or suffer other major hardships. I hope that during this season, those who long for a moment of peace will soon find it.
