We Deserve Peace... LOH #250

I believe we should always forgive. Not because they deserve it but because we deserve peace. I am in a personal era of learning, unlearning and re-learning. Something I find intriguing is the Bible. The Bible reminds us to forgive "seventy-seven times seven", a number so big it's not meant to be counted but to show the endlessness of grace. Whoever said those words must have known the heavy burden grudges bring, and the freedom that comes with letting go.

There is something sweet and satisfying about forgiveness. I have witnessed that in dire pain, when one chooses to leave it to a higher power, (according to each person's perspective, God, Universe. In this case, allow me to use my own, God) the payback given is twice as big as any revenge a human can come up with. Furthermore, revenge is just a waste of one's time and resources, not to mention it's a heavy load of guilt on our shoulders.

A friend of a friend went through heartbreak that broke her terribly. Instead of crying and letting go, to create room for a potential match, she disclosed to this friend of mine that she intends to turn to witchcraft. No way was she going to let the man go. Because she chooses not to forgive or at least let it go, she'll be consuming her time bent on revenge, something that would cost her more than she has already lost, something that could backfire on her.

Forgiving is not simple. It's okay to feel all the emotional turmoil someone brings your way. It's okay to feel hatred toward the person who hurt you in that moment. It's okay to feel done with them for life, feel it all, cry it out, cuss all day. But at the end of it all, leave it to karma; it knows its work perfectly well. And it is way cheaper than carrying a grudge and/or being bent on revenge.

In the end, forgiving is not just about the other person; it's the first step in loving yourself enough to choose peace over poison.

Thank you for reading❤️. This is my entry to contest #250.

Certainly, forgiveness is the first step to loving yourself enough to choose peace, as opposed to holding a grudge or being obsessed with revenge against those who hurt us, thank you for sharing your experiences,
