Hello, friends of the #ShadowHunters community, thanks to our friend @melinda010100 for inviting us to this initiative in her Shadow Hunters SMASh Contest – Round 418.

Shadows Knocking on the Door

A few days ago I went with my wife to visit a cousin of mine. When we arrived, while we were knocking on the door, something made me pause for a moment: our shadows were reflected on the wall in front of us.

The image was far from perfect. The shadows appeared distorted, stretched, and constantly changing depending on how close we were to the wall. With every small movement, the shape shifted, as if it refused to stay fixed in a single version. It became a kind of interaction between light, distance, and our own presence.

I decided to capture that moment. Not because of its perfection, but precisely because of the opposite. In that distortion there was something interesting: a different representation of ourselves, less defined, yet more dynamic. Sometimes shadows are not meant to be exact, but to remind us that even the ordinary can look different from another angle.

The photos were taken with my mobile phone, and for the English version I used Google Translate.

Sombras que llaman a la puerta.

Hace unos días fui con mi esposa a visitar a una prima. Al llegar, mientras tocábamos a la puerta, ocurrió algo que me hizo detenerme por un instante: nuestras sombras se reflejaban en la pared frente a nosotros.

La imagen no era perfecta, ni mucho menos. Las sombras aparecían distorsionadas, alargadas y cambiantes, dependiendo de qué tan cerca estábamos de la pared. A cada pequeño movimiento, la forma variaba, como si no quisiera quedarse fija en una sola versión. Era una especie de juego entre la luz, la distancia y nuestra propia presencia.

Decidí capturar ese momento. No por su perfección, sino precisamente por lo contrario. Porque en esa distorsión había algo interesante: una representación diferente de nosotros mismos, menos definida, pero más dinámica. A veces las sombras no buscan ser fieles, sino recordarnos que incluso lo cotidiano puede verse distinto desde otro ángulo.
