LOH Contest #238: The Thing That I Consider When I Do Solo Travel

Talking about travel, I enjoy every trip I make, whether it's solo, with friends, or family member, but solo travel hit different for me.

Last year was my best year for traveling domestically and abroad. After my first trip with a fun friend, I tried solo traveling for the first time. I went to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, at that time. There was no important reason other than these two countries are close to my country and I have a close emotional bond with the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur. For that I wanted to try solo travel. At least once in my life I have tried something new, solo travel. I thought because the country is a close country, with people from the same ethnic group and a similar language, I would be able to survive there alone.

As a newbie for solo travel, I consider Solo Travel as Me Time. I definitely like traveling with friends and family, but traveling by myself is more special. I became more disciplined with time because I had a place I wanted to visit by myself and estimated the travel time. Previously, when I was with friends I became a bit lazy because I preferred to shower and get ready later, sometimes I wouldn't wake up if I wasn't woken up. When I became a Solo Traveler, all those pampering things disappeared. I became an independent person and disciplined with myself. I wake up early, take a shower straight away—never daydream or scroll through social media first, then just leave without waiting for anything else.

That's right, being a Solo Traveler makes me more attentive to myself.
