Esta semana las preguntas me llevaron a algo muy simple, pero muy presente en mis días: el café.

Podría decir simplemente que prefiero el café antes que el té, pero para mí no es solo una bebida. Es un pequeño ritual que marca pausas en el día.

Me gusta prepararlo despacio. Poner el agua a calentar, escuchar el sonido suave cuando empieza a hervir, y sentir cómo el aroma del café empieza a llenar la cocina antes incluso de probarlo. Hay algo muy reconfortante en ese momento, como si el día hiciera una pausa conmigo.

No lo preparo de manera complicada. A veces es café colado, otras veces en una cafetera sencilla. Lo importante no es el método, sino ese instante en que el vapor sube de la taza y el olor se mezcla con la mañana o con la tarde.

Generalmente lo tomo sin mucha prisa. Me gusta sostener la taza caliente entre las manos y dar el primer sorbo despacio. Ese primer sorbo siempre tiene algo especial. Es como si despertara los sentidos y acomodara los pensamientos.

El café también tiene algo de compañía. A veces lo tomo sola, en silencio, mirando por la ventana o pensando en lo que quiero hacer ese día. Otras veces se convierte en una excusa para conversar con alguien, para sentarse un momento y simplemente compartir.

Creo que por eso me gusta tanto. Porque no es solo el sabor, es todo lo que ocurre alrededor de la taza.

En un mundo que muchas veces corre demasiado rápido, una taza de café puede ser una pausa pequeña, pero necesaria.

This week the questions led me to something very simple, but very present in my days: coffee.

I could simply say that I prefer coffee over tea, but for me it is not just a drink. It is a small ritual that marks pauses throughout the day.

I like to prepare it slowly. Putting the water to heat, listening to the soft sound when it begins to boil, and feeling how the aroma of coffee starts to fill the kitchen even before tasting it. There is something very comforting in that moment, as if the day paused with me.

I don’t prepare it in a complicated way. Sometimes it’s brewed coffee, other times in a simple coffee maker. What matters is not the method, but that instant when the steam rises from the cup and the smell mixes with the morning or the afternoon.

I usually drink it without much hurry. I like to hold the warm cup in my hands and take the first sip slowly. That first sip always has something special. It’s as if it awakens the senses and arranges the thoughts.

Coffee also carries a sense of company. Sometimes I drink it alone, in silence, looking out the window or thinking about what I want to do that day. Other times it becomes an excuse to talk with someone, to sit for a moment and simply share.

I think that’s why I like it so much. Because it’s not only the taste, it’s everything that happens around the cup.

In a world that often runs too fast, a cup of coffee can be a small but necessary pause.
