Once again I’m taking part in this shadows contest, this time in round #417.

Sometimes shadows tell how cities change.

There was a time when seeing a motorcycle on our streets was something uncommon. Getting one seemed almost impossible. Today, with the new regulations, many have entered the country and their presence has become part of the everyday landscape. You only need to walk a few blocks to hear the sound of an engine approaching or see one passing among the cars.

This time it was not the motorcycle that first caught my attention, but its shadow.

It was projected on the ground, stretched by the afternoon sun, with its wheels and handlebars clearly drawn. I found it curious how such a light form can represent something so significant for so many people. For some it is work; for others it is mobility, a way to move through daily difficulties.

But I also thought about how fragile that balance can be. Motorcycles are fast, agile, economical… and at the same time vulnerable. Perhaps that is why its shadow seemed larger than the machine itself, as if everything it represents were concentrated in it: opportunity, risk, urgency, and necessity.

Cities change little by little, almost without us noticing. And sometimes it is in the shadows where those changes can be seen most clearly.

La sombra de un cambio

Hola comunidad #ShadowHunters
Nuevamente participo en este concurso de sombras, en esta ocasión la ronda # 417.

A veces las sombras cuentan cómo cambian las ciudades.

Hubo un tiempo en que ver una moto por nuestras calles era algo poco común. Conseguir una parecía una tarea casi imposible. Hoy, con las nuevas regulaciones, han entrado muchas al país y su presencia se ha vuelto parte del paisaje cotidiano. Basta caminar unas cuadras para escuchar el sonido de un motor acercándose o ver alguna pasar entre los autos.

Esta vez no fue la moto lo que llamó primero mi atención, sino su sombra.

Estaba proyectada sobre el suelo, alargada por el sol de la tarde, con sus ruedas y manubrio dibujados con claridad. Me pareció curioso cómo una forma tan ligera puede representar algo tan significativo para tantas personas. Para algunos es trabajo, para otros es movilidad, una forma de moverse en medio de las dificultades diarias.

Pero también pensé en lo frágil que puede ser ese equilibrio. Las motos son rápidas, ágiles, económicas… y al mismo tiempo vulnerables. Quizás por eso su sombra me pareció más grande que la propia máquina, como si en ella se concentrara todo lo que representa: oportunidad, riesgo, prisa y necesidad.

Las ciudades cambian poco a poco, casi sin que lo notemos. Y a veces es en las sombras donde esos cambios se dejan ver con más claridad.
