THE AESTHETIC OF LANGUAGES : LOH contest #240

avatar

Good Day Everyone 🥰
Welcome to my blog👋
In regard to the questions asked in this week LOH contest #240, I will be giving an answer to both questions, respectively.

1️⃣ How many languages can you speak? And what language would you want to learn more than anything?

Most persons limits the use of language to only communication, no doubt, languages are used for communication, but language is also a carrier of peoples tradition, culture, race, way of life and many more features. You cannot successfully learn a foreign or local language without gaining the knowledge, basics , culture and tradition of that place.
Language is beautiful and represent every race, tribe , states and country.

I'm Nigerian, and as a typical Nigerian I speak Igbo language ( my first language), English language( my lingua franca) and pigin language.

The Igbo language is my mother's tongue, the first language that was introduced to me from childhood, I love Igbo language so much, it sounds really melodious and carries the beautiful culture of my tribe.
The Igbo language is being spoken by those from the eastern part of Nigeria, that's our ancestral language and it's one of the major languages among the numerous languages in Nigeria. Igbo is one of the largest ethnic groups in Nigeria and that's what makes our language a major language in Nigeria, it's a language you can hear in the northern, southern and western part of Nigeria. It's well known.

In Nigeria, English Language is our official and formal language and this can be traced back to colonialism by the British.
English is our means of communicating in schools, offices, firms and companies. In Nigeria if you can't speak or write in English, you are considered as an uneducated person.
From childhood, we are taught how to read and write English Language in school, I consider English Language as my second language.
I learnt English to be among the elites, speak confidently publicly and also for educational purposes.
I love the English Language and also the culture that comes with it, when you visit official environments and school, you would appreciate it culture, it brings about calmness, decorum, tranquility, and confidence. It envelopes Nigerians, with an attribute of British and even influence the way we dress corporatly and eat gently.

And lastly, the pigin language, which is also called vernacular the pigin language has really gained recognition in this 21st century, social media has really made it recognized. Pigin is a mixture of Portuguese , English language and some Niger delta Languages.
The pigin language prevails in the local part of Nigeria, used in places like markets, local business areas, and streets. It is usually used for trade, from the 18 century till date. As a Nigerian, you just have to learn pigin, because if you don't, you will be intimidated.
Pigin is cool, but not an appropriate language to use among kids or learners of English language.

I would really love to learn French, I love French language. We are being privileged to learn French in our secondary school levels here in Nigeria. I found it really difficult to learn the language because of the inconsistency of my teachers, overload work in school and also age factor.
I believe if I can stay in a French speaking country, I would learn it alongside the culture of the people, learning the culture of the people make learning their language faster and easier.
If I'm to take a course in any other language, it's definitely going to be French. I love French and understand words like bonjour, Je m'appelle and bonsoir .

2️⃣ If you could invite any five people, living or dead, to a dinner party, who would they be?

This is going to be brief, If I'm to invite five persons to a dinner party, it would be my four sisters and my mom. Marriage, work, education, and life have taken us to different parts of Nigeria and we hardly have the time to hang out, even during holidays there's always a missing person among us. I would really love to have good moments with my sisters and mom.

Picture is mine.

Thanks for reading 💖
