I dont know if I'm the only girl who likes beans like alot, but yeah, me I love beans like alot, i was telling someone few days ago that, if they brought rice and stew and then beans and I was asked to pick one of them to eat, that I would certainly chose to eat beans over the rice, and I was not joking about it when I said it, I meant every single word.

I have never been a rice eating person, I always prefer beans, swallow and soup to rice, i don't know mate because rice is one of our country to go meal, Like, rice is everywhere, Parties, ceremonies, Sundays, Christmas, weddings, even condolence visits , rice must show face, but for me, rice has never really moved me like that, I can eat it, yes, but if there is beans somewhere in that same place omo..... Just know that my heart will already know where it’s going.

So beans is actually not hard to prepare but I know my sisters always run always from cooking it because of the preparation method, and honestly, I understand them small, the thing is when you buy beans from the market, you have to select the shaft and the stones form it and you know how beans seeds are, that part alone can discourage anybody, you sit down there picking and picking like you’re looking for hidden treasure, i think that is why alot of people always run away from cooking it.

But me o, I don’t mind it at all , I think I have just accepted it as part of the process, sometimes I even enjoy it because it prepares my mind for what’s coming , once the stones are out, I already know something good is loading, And when the beans finally starts boiling and that smell begins to come out from the pot, everything just feels worth it.

And then some people say beans don't go well with their system, like my younger sister gets stomach ache from eating beans, i don't know what tho, I have heard this complaint from a lot of people actually, some say it bloats them, some say it makes them uncomfortable, some say they just don’t like how it makes them feel, but for me? Beans and my body are best friends, we have never had issues.

But it is one of my favourite, and it's not something that's difficult to prepare at all, I feel like once you understand beans, it becomes one of the easiest meals you can make, you don’t need too much drama or stress.

And requires very little ingredients like palm oil, salt, crayfish if you want to have a seafood taste, some people add fish to their beans, then onions, alot of it, then pepper, that's how I like mine. The onions especially, that is the power ingredient for me, plenty onions just takes beans to another level entirely.

I will always eat beans, even though not many people like it, see whether it is plain beans, beans with bread, beans with garri, or beans with fried plantain, me I am always happy, It is like a comfort food for me in a way, it fills me up, makes me feel satisfied, and doesn’t stress me, And seriously, that’s all I really want from any food.

Haha I may not like it as much as you do but oh yeah! I love beans, and I enjoy preparing it too. Onions is really the power ingredients, and Crayfish too for me.
An hack I use for the freedom to prepare my beans anytime without worrying for dirts removing is taking time on a free day to remove dirts from a large portion (a rubber or two) at once. 😅

Rice is a staple food here in our country. And for this lentil, not to say, its most often added to our food. As mentioned, I like it with more onions and pepper, i too add green chillies and curry leaves. Thanks for the share.

Soak the beans overnight, then drain the water completely. Soak them again for a couple hours, then drain that water completely. Finally cook them in a fresh pot of water, and the previous soakings will remove some of the "gas-producing" things that make people feel bloated after eating them. Everyone will think you are magic! 😁

Gotto try that out. Some people here at home can really do with eating beans.
Thanks for the tip. 😀

I don’t love only beans but combining it with rice is amazing.

My Dietitian has prescribed more beans in my diet as a substitute off red meats as a recommendation so I'm open to exotic yet simple Bean based meal solutions. My Doc prefer me to avoid the commercially canned bean products and emphasize the homemade type of meal.

"Beans, beans, the magical fruit. The more you eat the more you toot!" ~ My late Roommate often quoted this phrase when serving her favorite 'Beans-n-franks' dish.
