The world suffers not so much from a lack of grand solutions, but from a lack of sustained, small actions. The division among people, indifference to the suffering of others, and the pursuit of purely individual solutions have created a fragmented society.

The Importance of Education for Changing the World

For over 30 years, I have worked as a Geography teacher, so this topic is very close to my heart. I believe that education is the essential path to achieving a responsible, environmentally conscious, rational, and compassionate culture among human beings.

I have observed this in the publications I have read, such as those by @annafenix, @jlufer, and others who, in one way or another, have addressed this issue.

Actions

Actions should have a focus that encompasses personal actions, community tasks, environmental exercises, and other activities that foster values ​​and feelings, thus cultivating a mindset of love and care for all components of the environment.

To change the world, change must begin with ourselves: examining our consumerist habits or anything that harms others. We must cultivate empathy and try to understand perspectives different from our own, and that is called respect.

It is necessary to develop awareness of our consumption and habits because we often buy more than we need, and many products end up in the trash.

In this process, we must include all human beings because everyone matters. It is necessary to listen to all proposals, especially those from people who are often ignored, recognizing and valuing the small contributions of others, particularly the most vulnerable, so that they too may recognize their own worth.

Furthermore, the proposals we make must support causes that promote justice, education, sustainability, and foster solidarity among human beings over competition.

Before announcing any specific actions, it is essential to understand that we must educate by example rather than words, because this is the only way to instill values ​​and awareness in young people.

Proposed Actions

As Minister of the Environment, the first thing I would do would be to establish a system of relations with the Minister of Education, to implement the actions directed by these ministries to change the world.

Introduce Civic Education curricula that contribute to developing values, environmental awareness, and responsible attitudes toward life.

Create interest groups in schools that promote a love of nature and foster human values.

Plant plants, collect solid waste, and avoid anything that harms the environment where we live.

Create a school garden or kindergarten where children and young people are the main participants, so they can experience the value of work done by their own hands.

Use social media to promote best practices and organize contests that publicize positive actions taking place in the community.

Produce community television programs that promote environmental awareness and animal welfare.

Implement projects that encourage the cleaning of beaches, rivers, and other natural areas in our community.

Create brochures with measures we can take to care for the environment, highlighting global problems affecting humanity and promoting examples of values ​​among people.

Create community clubs to discuss topics such as love for nature, respect among people, and contribute to improving life in the community.

Share positive and constructive life stories, not just problems.

Provide support to the most vulnerable people in the community and integrate them into community activities.

The most profound change occurs when we stop asking “who is right?” and start asking “what needs to be improved, changed, healed?” When we shift our perspective from “them against us” to “us together,” we begin to build the world we aspire to.

La importancia de la educación para el cambio del mundo

Durante más de 30 años he ejercido como profesor de Geografía, por lo que este tema me resulta muy cercano. Considero que la educación es la vía esencial para alcanzar una cultura responsable, ambiental, racional y solidaria entre los seres humanos.

Esto lo he constatado en las publicaciones que he podido leer, como las de @annafenix, @jlufer y otros que, de una u otra manera, han abordado este tema.

Las acciones

Las acciones deben tener un enfoque que abarque la actuación personal, las tareas comunitarias, los ejercicios ambientales y otras actividades que fomenten los valores y los sentimientos, logrando así formar un pensamiento de amor y cuidado hacia todos los componentes del medio ambiente.

Para cambiar el mundo, el cambio debe comenzar por nosotros mismos: revisar nuestras costumbres consumistas o todo aquello que vaya en detrimento de los demás. Debemos cultivar la empatía e intentar comprender perspectivas diferentes a las nuestras, y eso se llama respeto.

Es necesario desarrollar conciencia sobre nuestros consumos y hábitos, porque muchas veces compramos más de lo que necesitamos y muchos productos terminan en la basura.

En este proceso debemos sumar a todos los seres humanos, porque todo el mundo cuenta. Es necesario escuchar todas las propuestas, especialmente las de quienes suelen ser ignorados, reconociendo y valorando las pequeñas contribuciones de los demás, sobre todo de los más vulnerables, para que ellos también reconozcan su valía.

Además, las propuestas que hagamos deben apoyar causas que promuevan la justicia, la educación, la sostenibilidad y fomenten la solidaridad entre los seres humanos por encima de la competencia.

Antes de dar a conocer algunas acciones, es necesario entender que debemos educar con el ejemplo antes que con palabras, porque es la única manera de formar valores y conciencia en los más jóvenes.

Acciones propuestas

Como ministeo de Medio Ambiente, lo primero que haria sería establecer un sistema de relaciones con el ministro de Educación, para instrumentar las acciones dirigidas desde estos ministerios para cambiar el mundo.

Introducir programas de estudios de Educación Cívica que contribuyan a formar valores, cuidado del medio ambiente y actitudes responsables ante la vida.

Crear círculos de interés en las escuelas que promuevan el amor a la naturaleza y fomenten valores humanos.

Sembrar plantas, recoger desechos sólidos y evitar todo lo que afecte el entorno donde vivimos.

Crear el huerto escolar o el jardín de la infancia en los que los niños, niñas, adolescentes y jóvenes sean los protagonistas para que puedan constatar el valor del trabajo hecho por sus propias manos.

Utilizar las redes sociales para promover las mejores experiencias y proponer concursos que divulguen las acciones positivas que se realizan en la comunidad.

Realizar programas de televisión comunitaria que divulguen aspectos relacionados con el cuidado del medio ambiente y el amor a los animales.

Ejecutar proyectos que promuevan la limpieza de playas, ríos y otros espacios naturales de la localidad donde vivimos.

Elaborar folletos con medidas que podemos adoptar para cuidar el medio ambiente, donde estén los problemas globales que afectan a la humanidad y fomentar ejemplos de valores entre los seres humanos.

Crear clubes comunitarios para tratar temas como el amor a la naturaleza, el respeto entre las personas y contribuir a mejorar la vida en la comunidad.
