Christ Church Melaka (1753 ) -The Red Thread ASEAN HIVE COMMUNITY CHALLENGE
Christ Church Melaka holds a deep historical significance in Melaka, Malaysia. Built in 1753, it is one of the oldest Protestant churches in the country and stands as a well-preserved symbol of Dutch colonial architecture.
According to history, the Dutch constructed the church to commemorate the 100th anniversary of their conquest of Melaka from the Portuguese. During the Dutch colonial period, the building served as a Dutch Reformed Church, reflecting the religious affiliation of the Dutch administration. Later, in 1838, when the British took control, the church was converted into an Anglican church.
In 1911, its iconic red exterior was added, giving it the distinctive look we see today. Inside, the church still retains over 200 years old wooden pews, antique light fixtures, and other historical elements, making it not just a place of worship but also a treasured heritage site.

👨💻 ASEAN Hive Community Challenge #161 🚒 The Red Thread 🧨
This is my submition for the red Thread by the ASEAN HIVE Challenge.
A few days ago, I went to Melaka and enjoyed the sightseeing of the historical state of Melaka. One of the popular spots was the Red Church building. Like I have written above, it was originally a church and surprisingly, it is still being used as a church until now.
Next to the Christ Church Melaka, there are two more interesting buildings. On the left side is the old post office. It’s been there since the colonial days and is still in use today, showing how things worked before everything became digital.
On the right side, there’s a small museum that tells the story of Melaka’s history. It used to be a Dutch administrative building, known as the Stadthuys. Back then, it served as the Dutch Governor’s residence and was the center of Dutch administration in Malacca.
At the front of the building , there was Queen Victoria's Fountain. that being built by the British in 1901 to commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee.

There was a clock tower just next to Queen Victoria's Fountain , which know as Tan Beng Swee Clock Tower that being build in 1886 by Tan Jiak Kim to honor his father , Tan Beng Swee , a wealthy businessman.

This entire area is known as Dutch Square (also called Red Square) . This was the place where tourist will come to take photo as iconic place in Melaka.
I hope you enjoy some story being told in today post which dedicated for the The Red Thread challenge. Thanks for stopping by , see you in another journey.

What a historical church. I like the idea that it was preserved really well.
Aside from the rich history, the church remains stunning throughout the decades.
Greats! Big Christ Church with red colours! Thank you for sharing. God Bless You!
