The Shoulders That Bear Hope

Sometimes ...
When the night is quiet and my mother and younger siblings are fast asleep,
I like to sit by the window and stare blankly.
My thoughts drift back to that time...

When I realized I had to be more than just a "daughter" or "older sister."
I had to be a protector, a strength, and a breadwinner.
I had to stand strong even when it felt like the world was falling apart.

Honestly, it wasn't easy ...
There were days when I wanted to cry so hard I could barely breathe,
and there were moments when I saw the pile of bills on the table that I felt like I couldn't breathe.
But every time I saw the faces of my younger siblings, still small, innocent, and full of dreams...
there I found a reason to keep going.

When I look back ...
I see a girl who fought tooth and nail against fatigue and fear,
who learned to smile even though her heart was heavy.
And I'm proud of her.
She taught me that being strong doesn't mean never falling,
but always getting back up every time.

Now ...
As I move forward,
I carry all those wounds as a reminder of how strong and resilient I once was.
I will continue to work, continue to fight.
Not just for myself,
but so that my younger siblings can grow,
dream, and live without fear.

My past was a teacher,
