Rising above community ideology.
Every community teaches us something, whether it's resilience, kindness, collaboration, or survival.
What valuable, lesson has your community taught you?
Good day, beautiful souls. Hope our day is going well. Thank you for dropping by my post. Happy reading. My community taught me to be good or to never give up, but in a bad manner.🙄 Let me explain.
I came from a small community where people know each other very well; it was like a family town. Once there is a visitor, we always know. I came from a family of eight. Five girls and a boy. He is the lastborn. My mom had five girls, and the people in my community started talking. They said my mother is not a good wife.
That is why she hasn't given my father a male child. The talk became so much that my father's family and friends started telling my father to marry another wife that could give him a male child. Thank God he didn't listen to them.
They said, "Who will succeed him?" They said girls are not important in the community/society. Hm, they said girls are like properties that can be sold at any time. They also said girl child importance is only in the kitchen and the other room🫢.
They said we can never amount to anything. After four years of praying and waiting, God blessed my mom with a baby boy. And he was named REDEEMER.
Now the reason why I shared this story is to tell you how my society or community made me a better person. While growing up, my elder sister could always tell us to be better and never give up on our dreams; she could say we are as important as everyone else.
She said always be confident and believe in ourselves and dreams no matter what the society/community says. They see us as people who are not important. But by the grace of God. My house had the first female university graduate in my community, and my family is the only family that has up to four university graduates today in my community. And i am one of them. Presently our last born REDEEMER is in his final years in the university too. This is the Lord doing.
Again, my family also has the first female federal government workers in my community today. Thanks to God for making that possible. My community's negative ideology about female children made us better, made us stronger 💪, and made us never to give up.
How I wish my parents are alive to see their girls winning. As what a man can do, a woman can do better; this is the reason why we never give up. The community teaches us to be better in a very bad 😞 manners.
Thank you for reading through.
