📀 {05/03/26} ✦ "Cualquier cosa, menos maltratar la máquina" ✂️ 🌆 📐 | Throwback Thursday ✦ 🇪🇸 │ 🇺🇸

🇪🇸 ~ Un día como hoy, pero en 2012, estaba fabricando un híbrido de armador, había aprendido que el material de los "petticoat" era muy valioso como para simplemente desecharlo cuando ya no mantenía la forma alta y pomposa de sus primeros usos.

Estos híbridos eran la fusión de 1 o más petticoat, o la combinación de 1 con capas de material fresco recién traído del almacén de telas; hacer esto se volvió costumbre en ese tiempo (coser o remendar por las tardes), o mejor dicho era una rutina asentada:

Por muchos años mi casa fue sitio de reunión por lo cerca que estaba de la universidad, por eso tengo muchos lindos recuerdos, por ejemplo, mientras yo cosía, alguien estaba jugando League of Legend en la PC, y otro grupo veía algún anime en la TV o su propia laptop. Fue un tiempo muy bonito.

🇺🇸 ~ On this day in 2012, I was making a hybrid dressmaker's tool. I had learned that petticoat material was too valuable to simply throw away when it no longer retained the high, pompous shape of its early uses.

These hybrids were a fusion of one or more petticoats, or a combination of one with layers of fresh material brought in from the fabric warehouse. Doing this became a habit at that time (sewing or mending in the afternoons), or rather, it was an established routine:

Sewing, enjoying the visit and company of my friends who were leaving their university classes at that time, and to whom I owe these types of photos.

For many years, my house was a meeting place because of its proximity to the university, so I have many fond memories, for example, while I was sewing, someone was playing League of Legends on the PC, and another group was watching anime on the TV or their own laptop. It was a very nice time.

De este día recuerdo que se supone que debería haber estado cosiendo en la máquina de coser, pero la máquina hizo un ruido extraño, y yo asustada por la posibilidad de dañarla rápidamente retire todo el material.

I remember that on this day I was supposed to be sewing on the sewing machine, but the machine made a strange noise, and I was scared that I might damage it, so I quickly removed all the material.

Me senté en el piso y comencé a coser nuevas capas a mi armador pero a mano, no era algo extraño para mi pero si alguna vez has tocado este material, sabes que coserlo a mano es un reto, porque lastima los dedos y puedes quemarte hasta formar ampollas tratando de que la aguja atraviese tantas capas de material, ¡y el hilo también se revienta por la fricción!.

I sat on the floor and began sewing new layers onto my armor, but by hand. It wasn't something unfamiliar to me, but if you've ever touched this material, you know that sewing it by hand is a challenge because it hurts your fingers and you can burn yourself and get blisters trying to push the needle through so many layers of material, and the thread also breaks due to friction!

Recuerdo también que mis amigas me decían "te vas a quemar los dedos", pero para mi era mas importante no dañar el motor de mi máquina de coser, que no estaba diseñado para coser capas gruesas de tela, era una máquina casera simple y aunque muchas veces la llevé al límite, si había alternativas prefería el plan B.

I also remember my friends telling me, “you're going to burn your fingers,” but for me it was more important not to damage the motor of my sewing machine, which wasn't designed to sew thick layers of fabric. It was a simple home machine, and although I often pushed it to its limits, if there were alternatives, I preferred plan B.

Han pasado 14 años de ese día y reflexiono que es bueno empezar desde cero y con poco, cultivas la paciencia y la perseverancia, y también el reconocimiento por el valor de las cosas, aunque a mi siempre me ha gustado tomar el camino largo y coser muy, muy despacio. Eso en mi no ha cambiado.

Fourteen years have passed since that day, and I reflect that it is good to start from scratch and with little, cultivating patience and perseverance, as well as appreciation for the value of things, although I have always liked to take the long road and sew very, very slowly. That has not changed in me.
