El mundo es el mundo sin el ser humano, pero si nos referimos al mundo como algo afectado o habitado por el ser humano, cambiaría el orden en la forma en que educamos a nuestros niños.

Antes que lectura, matemática o historia, seria genial implementar como materia estándar y obligatoria en todos los sistemas escolares el respeto a la naturaleza, su reconocimiento, entendimiento, cuidado, junto a la educación sobre el derecho a la vida de todos los demás seres sintientes del mundo.

La educación ambiental no debería ser una materia menor o opcional, debería ser obligatoria. Es equivocado dar por sentado que a cada niño en su hogar se le enseña a cuidar y respetar a los animales y a las plantas.

Ese pequeño cambio, nos haría mejor como seres humanos y sociedad, porque ni aunque invirtamos toda la riqueza en el mundo en campañas de concientización, lograremos el mismo efecto positivo que si educamos correctamente inculcando empatía y conciencia desde los primeros años; estoy segura que seriamos menos crueles, menos sínicos, y por tanto menos violentos los unos con los otros, y especialmente con los mas indefensos.

Redesigning the world in a small way sounds, however small it may be, like a titanic undertaking.

The world is the world without human beings, but if we refer to the world as something affected or inhabited by human beings, it would change the order in which we educate our children.

Rather than reading, math, or history, it would be great to implement respect for nature, its recognition, understanding, and care, along with education about the right to life of all other sentient beings in the world, as a standard and compulsory subject in all school systems.

Environmental education should not be a minor or optional subject; it should be compulsory. It is wrong to assume that every child is taught at home to care for and respect animals and plants.

This is where teachers are the salvation, but teachers must follow the guidelines of the ministries of education and adhere to the programs they issue.

That small change would make us better as human beings and as a society, because even if we invested all the wealth in the world in awareness campaigns, we would not achieve the same positive effect as if we educated correctly, instilling empathy and awareness from an early age. I am sure that we would be less cruel, less cynical, and therefore less violent towards each other, and especially towards the most defenseless.

An education of this kind would put everything into perspective.
