Not a Habit, Not a Trait - But a Dream | Ladies of Hive #243

Hello to my fellow community members, This is my first blog in the Ladies of Hive Community and I hope you all will like it. My name is Tanuja, and people often call me by the name, Tannu as that is my nickname. I am from Gurugram, India, and in this post, I am going to share my entry for the contest #243 running on Ladies of Hive.

All of us have something inside us that we want to change. It can be something about our body or a part of our behaviour. I believe that things like behaviour or habits can be improved if we try. For example, things like thinking too much, reacting quickly, or trusting others too easily. These are things we can slowly change. We can work on ourselves, do some meditation, and try to stay calm. With time, we can come out of these habits.

So, I would not like to change any of these things. Instead, I would like to change something that may feel unreal. I would like to step a little away from the reality and give myself a new ability. I want the power to understand the language of all animals.

Since childhood, I have loved nature, and I enjoy visiting peaceful natural places. I recently went to Manali, and the mountains there were very beautiful. One thing we often experience when we go to such places is the sound of birds.

Whenever we feel sad, we all try to do something to get away from that sadness. Personally, I used to isolate myself whenever I felt low. But I never locked myself in a room. I would go to the rooftop, or sometimes to a park, or any quiet place where I could not hear the noise of people.

When I used to be alone, I would talk to myself. I would ask myself questions like, what did I do about what happened to me? Did I do the right thing? And if I did nothing, then was I still wrong to let that happen to myself?

And in the end, after talking to myself and getting tired of it, I would just stand there in peace with my eyes closed. That was when I start to listen to the sounds of nature. I could hear the wind, the birds, and even the sounds of insects.

I don't know how many of you will agree with me, but whenever I listened to those sounds, it felt like a loop was repeating. The same pattern of sound kept coming again and again. After a certain time gap, the same sound would come again. And I used to wonder, why is this happening?

So whenever I listened to their sounds, I used to wonder what they talk about with each other or what signals they give to one another. I always wished I could understand them too. But obviously, that was not possible. It was an unreal wish, something that could never come true. But when I saw this blog contest, I thought why not write about this wish and share it with all of you.

So these are the reasons why I would like to give myself this ability. I don’t know how you felt after reading my blog, but I have shared what I had in mind and heart. If you had the chance to get any special power, which one would you choose? I would really love to know.
