IPL Boundary Blackjack - Round 1, Match 1 - RCB v SRH
So here we go, the opening match of IPL 2026 sees defending champions RCB host SRH who themselves reached the 2024 final.
If you're playing IPL Boundary Blackjack, you'll find the below stats useful for making an educated guess on the number of boundaries in this match. Stats are taken from IPL 2025. As the season progresses I'll add in the 2026 numbers too!
RCB have retained the bulk of the side that lead to their long awaited first IPL title.
The ballest in the batting line-up is provided by Virat Kohli and Rajit Patidar while the more explosive element is likely to come from their overseas contingent.
As the stats below show, their top 4 power hitters are all overseas batters meaning they may struggle to shoe-horn in all 4 within the same team.
RCB stats from IPL 2025
At the top of the order, it might be a straight shoot out between English duo Phil Salt and Jacob Bethell. Salt has the experience and track record on his side. Having only been a late addition to the 2024 tournament (he wasnʼt bought at the initial auction), he has since gone on to win the last 2 IPL titles with KKR and RCB respectively.However, Salt endured a miserable World Cup last month that leaves question marks over his form.
On the other hand, Jacob Bethell is one of the rising stars of the game and those in India who didn't know his name prior to last month surely do now following his century against the hosts in the semi-finals of the World Cup.
Romario Shepherd hit every other ball for a boundary last season but did only face 24 deliveries. RCB's primary big hitter in the lower order was Tim David who had an equally impressive strike rate and will be looking for another big season in order to establish himself as one of the league's top finishers.
Bowling wise, I think RCB surprised many with the effectiveness of their attack last season.
Josh Hazlewood was set to lead the line for them but missed the entire season through injury. He's subsequently been injured again for the bulk of the Australian summer and there is no guarantee he'll be part of the RCB squad in 2026.
That leaves veterans Bhuvi Kumar and Krunal Pandya to be RCB's go to guys again. They were ably supported by Suyash Sharma and Yash Dayal last season - an all Indian quartet that allowed them to stock their batting line-up with those overseas heavy hitters.
However, it's been announced in the last 24 hours that Yash Dayal will not be involved in IPL 2026 due to a rape accusation that has been leveled against the 27-year-old.
That leaves RCB's bowling attack looking a little short on experienced operators at this level especially against an SRH line-up which can pack a fairly meaty punch with bat in hand.
SRH stats from IPL 2025
SRH's strength will continue to be at the top of the order with Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma capable of taking games away from opposition in the first 6 overs of a match.
Ishan Kishan has taken over the reigns as captain with Pat Cummins not expected to feature in the early games. I'd be interested to see if Ishan continues to keep wicket in those circumstances. Batting top 3, keeping and captaining is a big ask of any player but particularly strenuous for a first time captain at this level.
In IPL 2025, SRH struggled with ball in hand and as noted above will be without Cummins for this match.
All in all, this is a Sunrisers team that needs to get runs on the board to win games. They have the personal and ultra attacking mentality to do just that and when it comes off, it can do so with spectacular effect.
As you can see from the stats above, they finished last season strongly, just missing out on a play-off finish and whacking 31 boundaries in their innings alone against this RCB attack (55 boundaries in that match in total). They'll be looking to start this campaign in the same manner.
M Chinnaswamy Stadium stats from last 10 IPL matches
The Chinnaswamy has regularly provided good value T20 matches with its short boundaries that have been enjoyed by the home side's star batsmen from Gayle and AB to Kohli and the current crop of hitters. Thereʼs no reason to suspect we wonʼt see a few run fests here again this season.
SRH batsmen have enjoyed it here too. Travis Head got a hundred on his last IPL visit here and averages 70+ in all T20s played at this stadium.
Where bowlers have historically found joy is with a bit of movement early on. However, with both teams short of their Aussie seamers will we see the Benguluru pitch curators change tact?
You'd certainly back RCB to have the stronger spin options on current form and providing a slower surface might help overcome the loss of Hazlewood and Yash Dayal while also negating some of those power hitters in the Sunrisers line-up.
The last time these 2 met in the IPL at this stadium they shared 81 boundaries between them! That might be difficult to replicate but recent history suggests a high scoring game to kick off IPL 2026.

This is a brand new concept for me too so I'm intrigued to see how other users will go about it tactically. Do you go average or below to try and make sure you get a score on the board or do you go high to establish a lead and make everyone else take chances to catch you up?
After seeing this post, I think i miscalculated and put my predictions on the lower end.
Anyways, this is just the beginning, next round will spend a bit more on stats before predicting :-)

Could be! Definitely 2 batting line-ups that are capable of scoring 30-40 boundaries in an innings. I think they will both be sides that are more reliant on their hitting power throughout the tournament then they are of their bowlers to defend average totals so it suggests theyʼll both go hard

If you didn't know I've been getting downvoted for a long time on Hive
They have been trying to bully me with downvotes and words but it doesn't affect me I've been online for over 25 years
So I've dealt with people like this before it's nothing new
But what they are doing is bad Very badi joined steemit like everyone else thinking it offers freedom but I must say steemit offered much more freedom than Hive does
Everyone already knows I only post my own original content I have no need to steal anything from anyone
I've been labelled a lot of things on Hive 😂 by the biggest farmers scammers and downvoters

Hello everyone I hope you are all good and well today in this post is some of the evidence to prove my case
If you didn't know I've been getting downvoted for a long time on Hive
They have been trying to bully me with downvotes and words but it doesn't affect me I've been online for over 25 years
So I've dealt with people like this before it's nothing new
But what they are doing is bad Very badi joined steemit like everyone else thinking it offers freedom but I must say steemit offered much more freedom than Hive does
Everyone already knows I only post my own original content I have no need to steal anything from anyone
I've been labelled a lot of things on Hive 😂 by the biggest farmers scammers and downvoters

Hello everyone I hope you are all good and well today in this post is some of the evidence to prove my case
If you didn't know I've been getting downvoted for a long time on Hive
They have been trying to bully me with downvotes and words but it doesn't affect me I've been online for over 25 years
So I've dealt with people like this before it's nothing new
But what they are doing is bad Very badi joined steemit like everyone else thinking it offers freedom but I must say steemit offered much more freedom than Hive does
Everyone already knows I only post my own original content I have no need to steal anything from anyone
I've been labelled a lot of things on Hive 😂 by the biggest farmers scammers and downvoters
Actions speak louder than any words do especially when them words are coming from a compolsive liars
