¡Hola a todos los integrantes de esta comunidad y amantes de la escritura creativa! Como es natural, muchos aparatos electrónicos que usábamos a diario, poco a poco quedan obsoletos y algunos, en el olvido. Aunque ahora, en algunos museos o lugares de colección, pueden apreciarse estos objetos en exhibición. Como en el caso del Museo de Ciencias de la ciudad de Caracas, en donde se pueden ver algunos aparatos, incluidos, teléfonos, para aquellos que quieran apreciarlos. Para mi participación en el concurso, les hablaré un poco de los teléfonos durante mi infancia.

En mi casa nunca hubo teléfono fijo. Durante el tiempo en que vivíamos en un apartamento, mi madre realizaba las llamadas telefónicas en un teléfono público que se encontraba a unas dos cuadras del edificio. Recuerdo que estábamos tan apegados a nuestra madre que mis hermanos y yo, nos quedábamos viendo por la ventana hasta que ella regresaba... y a veces pasaba más de una hora, por lo extenso que podían llegar a ser sus conversaciones.

Con esa facilidad, me imagino que no había esa necesidad de adquirir un teléfono, así que así nos quedamos hasta que eventualmente los teléfonos celulares llegaron a nuestras vidas.

Sin embargo, en el apartamento de mi abuela (donde casualmente vivo actualmente), ella tenía un teléfono fijo parecido al de la fotografía, no recuerdo si el modelo, pero si recuerdo que era ese mismo color. Siendo niños y no teniendo un teléfono en casa, siempre nos llamaba la atención aquel aparato. Mirábamos fascinados cuando mi abuela iba a realizar una llamada y giraba aquella rueda, mirándolo como si fuese lo más fascinante del mundo. Me encantaba ese tintineo que hacía con cada giro, un sonido tan característico en el objeto como lo es el propio sonido de una máquina de escribir.

Cuando no nos veía mi abuela, jugábamos a que hacíamos llamadas, marcando números aleatorios que no caían en ningún lugar, pero para nosotros, era fascinante escuchar la bocina y fingir que realmente llamábamos. Hasta pasábamos rato hojeando las "paginas amarillas", donde se podían encontrar gran cantidad de directorios telefónicos. Por suerte, no fuimos tan traviesos como para llegar a marcar un número de esos y que nos pillaran jaja.

Casualmente cuando nos mudamos, estuve buscando a ver si se encontraba aquel teléfono, para tenerlo cerca por el "factor nostalgia", pero no lo encontré. Hubiera estado genial tenerlo como recuerdo de ese tiempo y de vez en cuando, girar la rueda... ☎️

Hello to all the members of this community and lovers of creative writing! Naturally, many electronic devices that we used daily gradually become obsolete, and some are forgotten. However, these objects can now be seen on display in some museums or collection centers. This is the case at the Caracas Science Museum, where you can see some devices, including telephones, for those who want to appreciate them. For my participation in the contest, I will tell you a little about telephones during my childhood.

There was never a landline in my house. During the time we lived in an apartment, my mother made phone calls on a pay phone about two blocks from the building. I remember being so attached to our mother that my siblings and I would stare out the window until she returned... and sometimes more than an hour would pass, because of how long their conversations could be.

With that ease, I imagine there wasn't that much need to buy a phone, so that's how we stayed until cell phones eventually came into our lives.

However, in my grandmother's apartment (where I currently live), she had a landline similar to the one in the photograph. I don't remember the model, but I do remember it was that same color. As children and not having a phone at home, that device always caught our attention. We would watch in fascination when my grandmother would make a call and turn that dial, staring at it as if it were the most fascinating thing in the world. I loved the clinking sound it made with each turn, a sound as distinctive to the object as the sound of a typewriter itself.

When my grandmother wasn't around, we would pretend to make calls, dialing random numbers that didn't fit anywhere, but for us, it was fascinating to hear the horn and pretend we were actually calling. We even spent time flipping through the "yellow pages," where you could find a large number of phone directories. Luckily, we weren't naughty enough to actually dial one of those numbers and get caught, haha.

Coincidentally, when we moved, I was looking to see if that phone was there, to keep it close for the nostalgia factor, but I couldn't find it. It would have been great to have it as a reminder of that time and occasionally spin the dial... ☎️
