Hello to all the members of this community and lovers of creative writing! Last night I went to bed thinking about the things I would eat today, since I would be going out of my eating routine a bit and I was planning on satisfying a couple of cravings haha, as you can see in the wave/snap that I uploaded this morning, where I had a breakfast that I really enjoyed, since it was something I hadn't eaten in a long time. So, thinking about it, it's a good time to dedicate it to my participation in the contest 🍴

It wasn't until very recently that I truly understood what it means to cook for someone else. When you live in a house with several people and aren't in charge of preparing the food, you can overlook the effort that goes into preparing each meal, and even if you only contribute a little (preparing a side dish like a salad), you can overlook this fact.
When you have the "pressure" or the knowledge that someone is waiting on you to get the food ready, you can do your part without a problem. However, things change when you're the one in charge of preparing your own meals. In my case, I started taking charge of it myself when I started living with my boyfriend and then on my own.
Previously, I only took care of simple things when I was living at home with my family. But, being alone and paying rent, it was my sole responsibility to take care of the shopping and, later, the cooking. It was a revolutionary time for me, as I learned to cook things I'd never made before and even took the risk of improvising, achieving results that led me to enjoy cooking for myself.
Not having so many limitations when it came to cooking, such as avoiding certain ingredients because someone else doesn't like them or receiving bad reviews about the taste of my meals, was the best thing. Obviously, I realized how laborious it was, because even though I only had to prepare a few portions, the time spent cooking was minimal. Still, I managed to eat my three meals a day no matter how busy I was.
They say that cooking for others is a demonstration of love... but what about cooking for ourselves? We should put just as much effort, if not more, into our cooking. When I'm feeling sad, I try to cook my favorite meals; I love vegetables and soups, so if I'm going through a rough patch and I go shopping, I'll make sure to buy my favorite vegetables and cook whatever I'm craving.
And I believe this even more strongly because, about a year ago, I felt so discouraged that I didn't even feel like eating. I didn't pay attention to this fact, and since no one noticed, since I make my own meals, I could easily skip mealtimes. Until I realized I had to change that, and that's when I decided to encourage myself to eat by cooking what I wanted and making nice presentations when serving. It was a way of telling myself, "Come on, everything's going to be okay," while taking care of myself.
Nutrition is important, yes, but if we eat mindfully, recognizing the value of the food we eat and being grateful for the effort that went into preparing it, we will realize that the food will taste more delicious. So, when someone gives you something they cooked, they're giving you more than just a plate of food: It's a part of their love. Let's cherish that 🙏✨
✨ Thank you so much for visiting my post. I hope you found it interesting ✨

Yes! Now I get it. I used to get bored with cooking, but over time I've gotten the hang of it, especially when it's something I love. 😊 Thanks, friend, for stopping by the post and for commenting 😇💚
RPD: Oh! I don't know why the notification didn't appear or why it got lost among so many notifications 😓 but, I already answered you, hehe, happy with the result 😍💚
Great! I enjoy the process of cooking, but I hate frying. Hot cooking oil is so scary, so the air fryer is my best friend. hahaha
Are you using an Android phone... It's a common thing for the app, especially on Android phones... Mine is the same at times... xD
Hahahaha I understand! I don't like frying either, for fear of splashing and what the oil consumption does to my skin haha 😅 Oh! Air fryers are popular here too, but I don't have one... I'm curious how I'd end up using it. Maybe later 😌
Yes! I have an Android, and notifications from that app sometimes arrive on time, and there are times when they arrive late. Not to mention I get a lot of notifications from different apps, so sometimes it's hard to know if you're up to date on everything haha 🙃
Air fryers are amazing... If I'm assigned to cook, I usually just use it... and since I don't have an oven, I bake using it, too. :D
Same... I'm also using Android, so I experience the same problem. But I also have it on my PC, so when I'm on it, I can easily check new messages. ^^
