The week from August 19 to August 25, 2025 was another rollercoaster ride for Bitcoin — and not in the bullish direction many were hoping for. After last week’s correction, traders were looking for signs of stabilization, but instead, we saw continued downward pressure. BTC started the week around $115K, briefly rallied to $117K on August 23, and then sold off sharply, closing near $111K, marking one of the weakest weekly closes in months.

So, what’s driving the red candles? A combination of factors: profit-taking after the recent run to $124K, rising concerns over U.S. regulatory measures on retirement account allocations, and macro uncertainty as traditional markets wobble. Despite these headwinds, long-term sentiment remains cautiously optimistic — the recent approval for 401(k) Bitcoin allocations is still a game-changer, but short-term volatility is here to stay.

The chart paints a clear picture: multiple failed attempts to reclaim $116K, followed by heavy selling pressure. The pattern suggests bears currently have the upper hand, but with Bitcoin, surprises can happen at any moment.
