Make a wish - Phone Photography [ENG/ESP]
Hello friends and hello Feel Good community. First, my best wishes that the week since my last blog in the community has been very lovely and full of joys. This week I return with new photos. My phone automatically created one of those memories that show photos from a specific day, and it reminded me that I once found many very large dandelions and decided to take photos of them, but for one reason or another I forgot them on my phone. Today I reclaim that moment and share these photos with you, but to make the blog more interesting we will do a bit of artistic intervention on one of the photos and obtain a small animation that I hope you like.
Hola amigos y hola comunidad de Feel Good. Primero mis mejores deseos de que el transcurso de la semana desde mi último blog en la comunidad haya sido muy lindo y lleno de alegrías. Esta semana regreso con nuevas fotografías, y es que mi teléfono creó automáticamente una memoria de esas donde muestran las fotos de un día en específico y me hizo recordar que una vez encontré muchos dientes de león muy grandes y decidí tomarles fotografías, pero por uno que otro motivo las olvidé en mi teléfono. Hoy me vuelvo a adueñar de ese momento y comparto estas fotografías con ustedes, pero para hacer más interesante el blog estaremos haciendo un poco de intervención artística en una de las fotografías y obtendremos una pequeña animación que espero les guste.
The name of the dandelion plant comes from the shape of its toothed leaves. That's something I didn't know. And it's not just a weed; it's a plant whose every part is edible: the leaves, which are used in salads; the root, for infusions; and the flowers, which can be used to make both jam and wine. I knew practically nothing about this plant until I started researching it. I found these among clovers, and they formed a small, green, very photogenic mound.
El nombre de la planta del diente de león viene por la forma de sus hojas dentadas, es algo que no sabía, y no es solo una mala hierba, es una planta que todas sus partes son comestibles: desde las hojas que se utilizan para ensaladas, la raíz para infusiones y las flores de las que se puede hacer tanto mermelada como vino. No sabía prácticamente nada de esta planta hasta que me puse a investigar. Encontré estos entre tréboles y formaban un pequeño y verde montículo de lo más fotogénico.
Without a doubt, the most photogenic thing about these flowers is when their yellow flower closes and these white spheres appear. It seems almost magical. Each little fluff is a seed attached to thin stamens that function like a parachute driven by the wind, carrying the seeds far away and allowing new plants to grow.
Sin dudas, lo más fotogénico que tienen estas flores es cuando su flor amarilla se cierra y aparecen estas esferas blancas. Parece casi magia. Cada pequeña pelusita es una semilla que va unida a unos estambres finos que hacen la función de un paracaídas impulsado por el viento, llevando lejos las semillas y haciendo que crezcan nuevas plantas.
Since I was little, I saw in cartoons how children made wishes by counting their blows, and it's a tradition I still keep for myself. So yes, I made one or two wishes while spreading its seeds. Among those wishes was that more dandelions would grow. Dandelions and clovers together? Nothing can go wrong.
Desde pequeño veía cómo en los dibujos animados los niños pedían deseos contando los soplidos, y es una tradición que aún guardo para mí. Así que sí, pedí algún que otro deseo mientras esparcía sus semillas. Entre estos deseos estaba que crecieran más dientes de león. ¿Dientes de león y tréboles juntos? Nada puede salir mal.
I also recently discovered, while reading about these plants, that they function as natural clocks: their flowers close when the sun sets or when there might be rain. I think that in general they are plants full of symbolism. Wishes, when blowing their seeds, almost ethereal, resilience to grow strong anywhere, transformation, flowers into wings, and above all the freedom to sail the wind.
También descubrí hace poco leyendo sobre estas plantas que funcionan como relojes naturales: sus flores se cierran cuando se esconde el sol o cuando hay posibles lluvias así. Creo que en general son unas plantas muy llenas de simbolismos. Deseos, al soplar sus semillas, casi etéreas, resiliencia al crecer fuertes en cualquier lugar, transformación, flores en alas, y sobre todo la libertad de surcar el viento.
What I most wanted to show you from this blog post is this little animation I made. Honestly, remembering these dandelions inspired me a lot, and right at that moment when the reminder notification appeared on my phone, I was watching My Neighbor Totoro, one of my favorite Ghibli movies, so I decided to simply take inspiration from the creatures in the movie to, by drawing on top of the photograph, create an animation full of magical creatures. They're only a few frames, but made with love.
Lo que más le quería mostrar de esta entrada en mi blog es esta pequeña animación que hice. La verdad, recordar estos dientes de león me inspiró mucho, y en ese mismo momento que apareció la notificación de recuerdo en mi teléfono, estaba viendo Mi Vecino Totoro, una de mis películas favoritas de Ghibli, así que decidí simplemente inspirarme en las criaturas de la película para, dibujando encima de la fotografía, hacer una animación llena de criaturas mágicas. Son solo algunos frames, pero hechos con cariño.
