Pumpkin season and much more! – LOH # 256 Contest (Eng/Spn)

Greetings to all, in this beautiful Ladies of Hive Community. Heeding the call of this contest number 256, today I return to participate. Here I share this week's invitation. Thank you @elizabethbit for these great questions!
This time I will answer the second question of the contest: If you live in the Northern Hemisphere, what is the one thing you are looking forward to in the fall season? If you live in the Southern Hemisphere, then what is the one thing you are looking forward to in the spring season? If you live in the middle, then what is the one thing you are looking forward to in this season?
I live north of the equator, meaning I'm in the Northern Hemisphere, but since I'm almost at the center of the planet, there are no noticeable seasonal changes in my country. The year is generally divided into the dry season, or summer, and the rainy season, or winter. However, starting in September, when the Autumn Equinox occurs—which in this year, 2025, was on September 21—the energy, light, and dynamics of the environment change. It's as if a golden light covers everything, as if a gentle calm were created, which is very pleasant.
And this gentle calm is accompanied by cool things I like about these last months of the year. And one of these things is pumpkins, which in my country we know as auyamas (this is an indigenous word). Starting in September, pumpkin season begins, and it's great because it's a very versatile, nutritious, and delicious fruit that we can prepare in a variety of recipes, from savory to sweet, and even as a beverage. They can also be used as an ornament and for prosperity rituals (it's a really beautiful thing). Pumpkin, for me, is delicious, and I try to eat it frequently, both in and out of season.
There's a specific variety of pumpkin that's harvested in my area at this time of year. They're small, usually round, with very tough, creamy or grayish skin and bumps. These are known as "auyamas de palo" (stick pumpkins) and are harvested when the rainy season is coming to an end. They have the unique characteristic of being very creamy and delicious, and baked or steamed, with a little salt, they're simply delicious. Enjoying this simple pleasure is something I look forward to all year long..
Another thing I really like is that the Day of the Dead celebration is approaching, and for me this date has special significance, as it's a way to remember those who are no longer with us in this physical plane. During these days, I also tend to be more introspective and reflective, because I remember all my dead even more, perhaps with more nostalgia and love.
Christmas is also approaching, a very important holiday in my country and throughout the Christian world. So I spend some of my time preparing, buying in advance the ingredients I'll need to prepare the meal for the holiday. I like this activity because it means enjoying such a beautiful holiday in advance, and it's also a smart idea because you can get better prices..
So I can say that I enjoy what is equivalent to autumn in other countries, as a beautiful season, full of subtle joy, where I come into direct contact with my beliefs, my customs, where introspection allows me to see things from a calmer perspective, and where I try to be a little happier.

Saludos a todos en esta hermosa Comunidad de Ladies of Hive. Atendiendo la convocatoria de este concurso número 256, hoy vuelvo a participar. Aquí les comparto la invitación de esta semana. Gracias @elizabethbit por estas estupendas preguntas!
En esta ocasión responderé la segunda pregunta del concurso: Si vives en el hemisferio Norte, ¿qué es lo que más anhelas del otoño? Si vives en el hemisferio Sur, ¿qué es lo que más anhelas de la primavera? Si vives en el hemisferio medio, ¿qué es lo que más anhelas de esta temporada?
Vivo al Norte de la línea ecuatorial, o sea, estoy en el Hemisferio Norte, pero como estoy casi que en el ombligo del planeta, no existen cambios estacionales notorios en mi país. Generalmente se divide el año en temporada seca o verano, y en temporada de lluvias o invierno. Sin embargo, a partir de septiembre, cuando se presenta el Equinoccio de Otoño, que en este año 2025, fue el 21 de septiembre, cambian la energía, la luz y la dinámica del ambiente, es como si una luz dorada cubriese todo, es como si se produjese una calma suave, que es muy agradable.
Y esta calma suave, va acompañada de cosas chéveres que me gustan de estos últimos meses del año. Y una de estas cosas son las calabazas, que en mi país las conocemos como auyamas (esta es una palabra indígena). A partir de septiembre, hay temporada de calabazas, y es genial, porque es un fruto muy versátil, nutritivo y delicioso, que podemos preparar en múltiples recetas, desde saladas, a dulces, como bebidas. También se pueden usar como ornamento, y para rituales de prosperidad, (es algo realmente lindo). La calabaza para mí es deliciosa, y procuro comerla con mucha frecuencia, tanto dentro como fuera de temporada.
Hay una variedad específica de calabazas, que se cosechan en mi zona en esta época del año. Son calabazas pequeñas, generalmente redondas, con la piel muy dura, de color crema o grisáceo y con protuberancias. Estas se conocen como “auyamas de palo”, y se cosechan cuando ya la temporada de lluvias está finalizando. Tienen la particularidad de ser muy cremosas y deliciosas, y hechas horneadas o al vapor, y acompañadas con algo de sal, son sencillamente deliciosas. Disfrutar de este sencillo placer, es algo que espero todo el año.
Otra cosa que me gusta mucho es que se acerca la celebración del Día de Muertos, y para mí esta fecha tiene significado especial, ya que es una forma de rememorar a quienes ya no nos acompañan en este plano físico. En estos días también suelo estar más introspectiva y reflexiva, porque recuerdo aún más, quizás con más nostalgia y amor, a todos mis muertos.
También está la cercanía de la Navidad, que es una fecha muy importante en mi país, y en todo el mundo cristiano, por lo que destino parte de mi tiempo a los preparativos, a comprar con anticipación los ingredientes que necesitaré en la elaboración de la comida para esa festividad. Me gusta esta actividad, porque implica disfrutar con antelación de una fecha tan bonita y, además, es algo inteligente, porque se pueden conseguir mejores precios.
Así que puedo decir que disfruto de lo que equivale al otoño de otros países, como una temporada bonita, llena de una sutil alegría, en donde entro en contacto directo con mis creencias, mis costumbres, en donde la introspección me permite ver las cosas con una perspectiva más quieta, y en donde procuro ser un poquito más feliz.
