My Dress-Up Darling~A Sweet Love Story~Anime Review...

‎The anime I'm talking about today is called My Dress-Up Darling. It's a Japanese romantic comedy anime that was first released in 2022. The anime is directed by Keisuke Kubota, who is praised for making every scene in the story beautiful and lively. I personally enjoyed this anime a lot. It's definitely suitable for those who like sweet, touching, and artistic romance.

Story Summary

My Dress-Up Darling is a nice heartwarming romantic comedy that wonderfully shows the friendship, collaboration, and eventually growing affection between people representing two different worlds: an introverted artist boy and an extroverted cosplayer girl. The main hero of the story is Wakana Gojo who is a student in high school. She is ordinary in her looks, possesses what can be described as a reserved character and interacts very little. She enjoys making Hina dolls, which she has been fond of doing since childhood under the influence of her grandfather and is very good at it. However, when one of her friends mockingly comments about her feminine hobby, she closes up on the world and is not brave enough to show people what she enjoys.

‎One day, Marin discovers Gojo sewing clothes on a doll in the home economics room of the school. Marin is shocked about this. She then challenges Gojo to create a cosplay costume of her most favorite character named Shizuku-tan in one of her favorite games. The first time Gojo is reluctant to make something out of clothes because this is the first time he is going to work with a girl and a so-called weird costume, indeed. In addition, Marin is a very faraway, sought-after girl to him. Marin innocently asks for only one small favor, with an open mind and passion of cosplay, Gojo gains his courage. She concurs and they start to be friends thereafter.

‎It is not only the friendship between Marin and Gojo. Gradually, the characters fall in love with one another without saying anything at the beginning. It also builds up this slow burn love story in every episode by small glances, eye contact, or outbursts of emotions. The My Dress Up Darling is one of the stories that make us understand that when we do not conceal ourselves, but appreciate our own likes, desires, and loves, life is much prettier. When we are amongst the people who care about us and are compassionate, we are capable of making a stand even in our weakest grounds.

When it comes to My Dress-Up Darling, it is a totally different anime. I tend to watch a lot of anime which is of the romantic comedy genre but there are times where I begin to see similarities and find the stories quite lackluster in some kind of way. My Dress Up Darling made me realize that an endearing love story can be created so much better than the one in the raw.

‎I liked best of all the stage of making cosplay. Cosplay is not something new to me, but the anime takes cosplay to another level as it is not just to steal some design and adorn it, but rather as an art form as well as an expression of emotion. I was touched by the amount of attention and affection that Wakana dedicates to making costumes of Marin with her own proficiency. The amount of time, effort and patience it takes to make each costume has gotten me to do my own work. It has taught me that there are no small jobs as long as we like them and we love them.

‎I could see the respect, care, and reality to be portrayed by the cosplay community by this anime. These elements are all fashion or some fun details, as presented in many anime, but My Dress-Up Darling makes cosplay look like an art and a way of personality expression. The numerous mistakes, mishaps, and adjustments that were made in the process of designing the costumes of Marin are depicted, and this is also similar to what many cosplaying role players also encounter. This increases the credibility of the story and makes it heartwarming.

‎Personally, My Dress-Up Darling is among the best animes on my list as it appeals to the heart and makes one feel confident. I had a great time watching it and I can recommend it to any one who likes realistic, Summary
